Former Pro Bowl tight end Wesley Walls has decided to pass up an offer from the Washington Redskins to sign with the Green Bay Packers, NFL sources said this morning.

I would have been okay with Walls here. He's a threat in the redzone. But, I want to see our young guys get some reps. Plus, Walls is coming off a knee injury.
Either way I would have been happy. But since he isn't coming here, I'm happier than hell!

Still i question the interest. Why? Is SS not happy with the crop we have? Should this be yet another worry?

BTW, why are people so surprised that Snyder was willing to overpay for Walls? It should be second nature now to realize that if Snyder wants something, he'll pay what it takes....

Thank God. There was no need, especially with a contract that paid more than the minimum.

Walls is a great recieving TE with a great work ethic. Flemister and Royal are not blowing anybody away. By signing Walls, those two could have learned from a master. Who's teaching them now? Ask Smoot and Champ the advantages of learning a position from a sage. I think it's too bad they could not get him signed. Having youth sounds great. I don't think that is a need on this Team though. We have a painfully young (read inexperienced) club. We need successful players, that can compete with and teach these young guys. I hope they continue to upgrade the Team no matter what the position, but obviously TE is weak. Why did they offer him more money? Because he has value and would have been an asset to the Team. btw if they had overpaid, he would have been here. The FO just raised the package a little to entice him.

If that were true, then why isn't Walls here then?

It wouldn't surprise me if Bret Favre v. Patrick Ramsey was the deciding factor in Walls' decision.

I stated in the other thread about Walls that he would recieve more action as the back up to Bubba in GB then he would here as the starter. He would have been ok but I am glad he went to GB

I would have liked to signed Walls, but not for much more than the minimum. Oh well, TE is not a huge part of the offense anyway,

I think he would've had a better chance to be a starter in Washington than GB...Although no one will replace Chamura and Bubba hasn't lived up to his potential, Walls would be a great addition to any team near the goal line. I mean, he's not a Shannon Sharpe or anything (we all know he's the man so stop hatin'!!) :moon2:

I dont think we need him.

Hopefully we don't need a red zone threat... we should ave about 40 yards on a TD pass :D
Walls is better off in Green Bay. He doesnt have too many years left and the Pack should be a playoff team. Who wouldnt want to catch passes from Brett Farve. They had a TE go down tonight on MNF.

No, I don't need an ESPN article to answer my question. It was directed towards your comment that Snyder pays more then it takes. My point is, obviously what he offered wasn't enough to lure him, so how can Snyder pay more then it takes, yet he didn't sign here? Hmmmm.......
