This argument over who deserved the money was punctuated when Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, who controls one of the league's richest teams, said he was ready to help any team in a bad circumstance but then turned toward Brown and said, ''But if someone has a publicly funded stadium they pay $1 a year for with no operating costs, I'm not helping that person."

Snyder then looked at Michael Bidwell, son of the Cardinals' longtime owner, and snapped, ''If you have a publicly funded stadium in a great market and charge $10 a game for season tickets in the upper deck, I'm sorry sir, I'm not going to help you."

This is kind of funny coming from jones

At one point during the often contentious negotiations, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mockingly offered to buy the naming rights to Paul Brown Stadium from the Bengals for $5 million ''because I can double that in about five minutes, Mike."

stadium naming right issues is a reason why i think teams like the bengals and bills voted against the CBA

don't mess with Snyder's money:lol1:

Snyder has a great point though, because the revenue he shares with owners like Bidwell in particular doesn't have to be spent on their teams. They can basically pocket that extra money.

don't kid yourself... i think snyder's power in the league is going to grow over time. especially with the next commissioner who will have to pass muster with the wealthy team owners.

that is going to be a major conflagration. you might end up seeing an owner commish, like selig because anyone else is going to be a very tough sell. cannot think of too many people who have the stature to satisfy all parties.
might end up being a politician or ex judge inthe end like kennisaw landis.

It so true. I lived in AZ for 6 years, that should be a great market for the NFL. I for one don't want to purchase something from the redskins store and have my money going to help Tampa bay beat us in free agency.

It should be noted that he specifically called out the two franchises that are notorious for sitting on one hand while holding out the other hand asking for help.

Dan Snyder knows business/ He knows how to make money., Bidwell and Brown should listen to him. There is a reason he makes a ton of profit on a team that has made the playoffs twice in the last 13 years.

I think Dan has some good points but he is really going overboard with his season ticket prices. I used to be against selling the naming rights of a stadium because I would rather it be named after someone great, like Joe Gibbs for example (Joe Gibbs stadium has a nice ring to it. Think of how nice that would be 30 years from now). Anyway, in theory, advertising like that could offset some of the tickets prices. Unfortunately, I think some of the rumors about Snyder's greed are warranted. He is milking (gouging) those tickets for every stinking penny and taking home record profits. Most people's mortgage payments are less than a set of four club level seats. My folks get season tickets and for the first time ever we are starting to question if it is worth it. They initiated the negotiating process last December (we have one year left on our 5 year contract) and the Redskins representative who we have been working with for 10 years is starting to act like a manipulative used car salesman. It's out of his hands so it's not personal, I get the sense that they have taken the Redskins in that direction from the executive level.

Interesting than Snyder was so outspoken when he criticised other owners for charging too little for season tickets. I agree that these other owners should be doing better to help themselves but there are ethical limits when you have a monopoly-like situation such as this IMO.

I had 4 club seats for 6 years and they weren't even 1/3 of my mortgage. Unless you mean that by nationwide averages, there is no way that is true.

Here is a link to the prices:

http://www.azcardinals.com/tickets/seat_views.php

Prices are suppoesed to go up about 10% - 15% accross the board when they move into the new stadium next year. Stadium is going to be amazing though.

Check it out:

http://www.azcardinals.com/stadium/photos.php

Also, since the new stadium was approved, the advertising and marketing efforts have increased BIG TIME, so has the money they are willing to pay for free agents . . . the Cardinals are TRYING . . .

it will unless the cards upgrade their o-line. they have the money for it, but they also need D. its going to be hard to plan for the weapons on this team.

I don't think it will, in fact he should score more TD's, since he will actually get the ball in the red-zone.

All Im sayin is you get what you pay for. Pay $65 and get to see The Greatest franchise on the planet, with it's fine marching band (The only team in the NFL with one) surrounded by the greatest fans cheering on a said greatest franchise with its rich history and tradition.........or

You can pay $10, see a team with no tradition to speak of, who has occupied more than one city in the last 20 years, who won't spend money on players and begs its fanbase (taxpayers) to build them a stadium which ulitimately happens for fear of relocation. So you pay alot less on the face of it, but you're paying for a loser product and if you happen to live in the city where the team is, you will see a hike in your taxes as a direct result of the way the team and its owner operate.

I choose scenario #1.

I had 4 club seats for 6 years and they weren't even 1/3 of my mortgage. Unless you mean that by nationwide averages, there is no way that is true.

The price has more than doubled since our last contract. For the last four years it we payed $8K annually for the four seats. This time they offered $18,000 for the set of 4 tickets on the 15 yard line, first row of the middle-behind the glass. To add insult to injury, they tried to sell us seat cushions for $250 a pop and they also tried to use our chances of having a home playoff game last year as leverage, even after the chances were about 1000 to 1.

My mortgage is < $18,000 a year so when I said "most" I guess I was exaggerating but it was out of frustration.
