Going to make a terrible joke that I'm probably going to hell for but..

I hope he brings a little bit of that New Orleans luck up to Philly.

They have two studs at DE. Bad news for us. Good news is we have two studs at tackle.

Doesn't fix their problems. Howard could be the stud who can dominate a great LT or he could be the misanthropic lazy player he became. They still need a couple DTs, a top WR, a RT, a LG and depth. This smells like a desperation signing to placate the fans.

This smells like a desperation signing to placate the fans.I would agree. They have alot of other needs to address. Let's see if they continue to sign other players or their owner count his money. Maybe they'll bring TO back now that Childress is gone lol.

Wonder if this means they don't think McDougle will ever return to full form. If he does then they have a nice little 3 man DE rotation going.

Well, losing the guy they really wanted because they couldn't get the team doctor to come in and give a physical is pretty embarrassing. Add in the fact that they lost Bentley to the Cleveland Browns makes it even worse.

I agree with Akh also. The Eagles are trying to do something to ensure they will sell tickets next year. With absolutely NO news on trading TO and the Redskins and Giants getting active in the FA market their fans are going nuts.

I think this is a good signing for their D...They have alway had a good Secondary but like us they really had a tough time last year because they had to cover for so long do to the lack of a pass rush. I think this signing made sense from that stand point i just dont know why they havent fixed the O yet. I dont see how Andy Reid can throw the ball so much out of his WC hybrid O and not have a WR that can dominate. The NFC and particularly the east is getting so much better i think they need to reevalute thier FO policies and go get some help for Reggie at WR.

I like this signing for them, they've got some good bookends, but it by no means fixes all the problems they still have on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, if I were Lurie I would have called Hugh Douglas and have him pretend to play doctor for a day...he should have an honorary degree in proctology after practicing on Reid and Donovan for so long.

True, but nonetheless, I'd rather him not be on the Eagles. He can really get after the quarterback, and this could free up a linebacker blitz.

Everyone knows that you build a good football team from the inside out...and for years the Eagles were doing exactly that. On Offense they built a solid line first, then a good QB, then a solid RB (Staley, Westbrook) and finished it off with a stud receiver (Owens) and they made the Superbowl. On D they started with a solid/good shade and 3 tech, solid MLB, and a stud FS...then built around them. They are unraveling. They let go their best DT, got an aging (yet solid) MLB from our scrap heap, and lost most of their secondary. Yeah, they have plenty of money saved up...but where are all those "frugal" moves getting them now? Signing a 30+ aged pass rusher won't help their probems one bit...

And lost Mike Anderson to the Ravens.

Not if they go with stiffs they have at DT. That frees up a OG to block Howard or the blitzer.

Who's their LB lining up behind Howard?

Dhani Jones will play behind him. They need DTs badly.

I'd just like to go off-topic for a second here and say that the Eagles site has the worst server on Earth. It's never up.

Glad to see the Iggles decided to part with some of that hard-earned cap room. It's too bad they decided to start their FA spending about 3 days too late.

Are we sure this is a done deal? Howard could still end up in Cleveland...

I'd just like to go off-topic for a second here and say that the Eagles site has the worst server on Earth. It's never up.Ok guys. I gotta comment on a few of these ridiculous comments made in this thread.

First........."Doctor not available for Bentley physical"? Oh pleeeessseeee. You honestly believe that crap. There is NO proof to substantiate that comment let alone proof that the Eagles were going to sign him. The Eagles and Bentley both denied there was a deal in place. Bentley, all along, wanted to go back home. I believe his agent spread the word to pump up the contract talks with the Browns.

Second....the Eagles "lost Mike Anderson to the Ravens"?? This is not Madden folks. There was NEVER any interest in this guy. Why?? They have 3 large third down RB's, Perry, Tapeh, Buckhalter. All we need is a 3rd down back to get those 1 or 2 yards, Anderson wants fulltime with 25-30 carries. He would'nt get it on the Eagles. If the 3 guys don't workout, they can pickup pretty much anyone to get a yard or two. Anyway, we know the Eagles like to pass on 3rd and 1 anyway...........

Third....."Eagles site has the worst server on Earth"? Are you dreaming? This site has been rated in the top of the NFL MBs since inception. They have the most board members of any NFL team. What do you expect when most of those member access at the same time. By the way, they will be tripling the capacity this week to be able to handle a half a million hits at any given time. It goes to show you how much this team means to the Eagles fans.

Finally, I'm surprised at these comments. I thought you guys were more knowledgeble than what has been represented here. Shame......

Anyway, I'm impressed at your FA signing vigor. You have a good FO to go from way over the cap to one of the prime FA landings. Congrats! I think you have done well...............

Spin Control.

The reporter who broke the Bentley story knows his stuff and has good sources. This wasn't Joe Bloe off ProFootballChat.com. The Eagles wanted Bentley and they lost him. Period.

lol keep dreaming. Bentley was reported as an Eagle a week before free agency started. There is no way that was smoke to get the browns to up their offer, especially considering that the Eagles were the very first visit Bentley made. I don't buy the doctor story, but I think Eagles lowballed him and he walked.

KFFL reported that the Eagles and Anderson were very close to a deal before FA began.

What he's talking about is that its always busy and they don't have enough bandwidth. Thats true. And based on the number of posts there, if you're right, then a small portion of the people there actually post. And I would bet that the Skins' fan boards(ES, HR and WarPath) have more members and more posts than the Eagles main boards.

Finally, I'm surprised at these comments. I thought you guys were more knowledgeble than what has been represented here. Shame......

Blah blah blah, don't try the reverse psych. And thanks for not actually talking about the Howard signing.
