~ ~ Where have all the TE'S gone ? ~ ~

i don't remember which coach it was but,
a number of years ago an NFL coach was answering some ?'s re the play/performance/production of his team's TE.

i don't remember his exact statement but, he basically said :
TE is probably one of the most difficult positions to fill.
it's very difficult to find a good/productive/effective TE because they're all playing POWER FORWARD in the NBA ~ ~ ~

here is what spurrier thinks of our TEs....and it aint good...at least for them.

from tuesdays quote sheet in the wash post.....

Q: How do you feel about your tight ends?
A: They're doing okay. Zeron [Flemister] of course was with us last year. He's catching the ball a little bit better, I think, at times. But other than that, you've only got one ball out there. Are you going to throw to the tight end all the time, or are you going to throw it toward Laveranues Coles, Rod Gardner, Taylor Jacobs, Cliff Russell, Darnerian [McCants]? If you're best receivers are wide receivers, than obviously they get most of the balls. But we expect to throw some to our tight end. They're involved. They get some balls, but obviously they need to catch them when they're thrown at them. We don't need to bounce them off the tight ends, or we look pretty stupid trying to throw to the tight ends. And we had a few ricochets recently, so we're going to fire at them in the ballgame Saturday night. They're going to get some balls.
