Another team goes down that road... Vikes to redesign uniforms

I noticed no one put this up.

I was pretty sure that the Vikings were one of a handful of teams that still wear the same unis for the past couple of decades. It's a shame that they're making a change...

Nothing wrong with that, their unis were outdated.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Skins update theirs. Nothing major, just get rid of the stripes and replace them with spears and feathers.

wow it says purple pants with purple jerseys at home, they should change their stadium name to the Minneapolis Grape Vine because thats what those olinemen are going to look like

You mean the tradition of the last 25 years and even over that period, the colors have somewhat. From the 60-70's, the unis changed quite a bit.

Anyway, I wouldn't change the helmet, just the stripes like I said before. They are outdated, like the two-tone jerseys I wore playing little league.

I hope they don't change their helmets. I hate some of the newer world league helmets like the Panthers, Patriots, Jags, and Titans. I like the old school helmets like ours and the Steelers and a few select others.

I hope the Skins keep it real with the uni's. I shudder at the thought of a "futuristic" Skins uniform that some of these teams sport now.

They have to kepp the helmets the same. My favorites are still the c;assics like ours, the bears, steelers, niners, pack...The lions set bad trend in the NFC north were there is so much history..

I always thought the helmets looked more like sperm than they did horns or whatever they are supposed to be. Oh well, I disagree with them changing uniforms but whatever :/

I wish the Skins would go back to the spear helmet personally. That one is so awesome :)

Perhaps they've changed the color a little. But overall, they're the same I remember from my childhood. Nothing drastic like the Broncos and Bucs.

If they're partnering with Reebok it should turn out okay, but leave uni experiments to baseball where desperation is setting in to attract new fans. The NFL has always balanced reverence toward its history while still managing to keep up with the times.

i couldnt picture the vikings going futuristic like the falcons, bengals, and cards have, but then again i hate those jerseys so i hope not. they could use a touch up even though they are classics, but not good classics like the steelers, pack, and bears. id like it if the 49ers went back to their older unis, not the touched up ones they have now.

It is a sad fact that some teams in will even consider changing the unifiorms (or even altering the tema logo) to make the more market-able to fans. I am for one am very very glad the REDSKINS have not made any serious changes to the uniforms or logo and I TRULY hope it stays that way.............

I never thought about that, but you're right. Those new helmets really suck. The best helmets belong to the Skins, Steelers, Eagles, Packers, Bears, 49ers, and Bills, IMO.

And I'd also love to go back to the gold pants, like the gold of the throwback ensemble, not the gold of the 70's pants, which was more yellow. I think that would look awesome. The white bores me.

I have to say sometimes a uni change goes a long way for some, i.e. the bucs and denver. There are the classics too (cowboys, giants, bears, steelers, skins, 49ers, raiders) I hope never change, but I think those teams could at least make over their jerzees and keep the helmet. The jerzees we have now are boring.

what i want to know is what the color purple and vikings have in common. Why don't they jsut change their team colors to something more understandable? i'd even change the logo if i were them... to something like a torch bearing viking running from a burning village. lol

I hate all the redesigned uniforms. Its just a method of owners to sell more jerseys and make more money. I just wish everyone could stick with tradition more.

Actually Mike, no team in the NFL has had more uniform or logo changes in NFL history than the Redskins, but considering we are one of the original teams, we have had many opportunities to change things.

Like the great Eddie Murphy said in Coming to America..."It's also tradition that times must and always do change my friend".

In writing that I would like us to go back and actually be the burgundy and gold we'll all know, not burgundy and yellow. If we switched back to the 70th anniversary uni's permanently that would be best in my opinion. Those uni's have it all, the right colors, the spear, everything is right about those uni's to me when you talk about Redskins tradition.

The Vikes should change much and the Skins should change much if at all. These unis won for Gibbs and I don't want to go funking up the mojo.
