Good observation. Our offense is going to be a nightmare to gameplan against especially with Al Saunders bringing stuff in that the cowboys, eagles and giants have never seen before. Our offense is going to be nasty with a vet like Brunell at the helm.:)

now thats what I call being able to stretch the field, CP must be drooling.
Santana in single coverage, whoooooeeeeeeeee
Cooley having room to move underneath, oooooooyeah
Brunell- less pressure - more weapons, un hun un hun
this is a win win win situation, the only ones not benifiting from this is the oppositions D......breaks my heart:)

It is cool to see them all in such good company, but I just wonder which one is going to be willing to go over the middle on a consistant basis for first downs. Which one is going to be that rock?

yeah, if anything, we'll be on the field more, with less 3 & outs. on the other hand, we may score in 2 or 3 plays once the offense hits the field so no one should be unhappy. :)

While I love grind it out football and winning by a FG is great. I have to say I have a fondness in my heart for scoring big!
I remember watching the 1st game of the '91 season when we beat Detroit 45-0 and the media said it is only Detroit. Then we start piling up the wins and they still doubted. We almost went undefeated and then started getting respect. That season was fun watching, no nail biting there.
If this year is anything like that one we are in for a treat!
Let the scoring begin!

games that come down to the last second can either be extremely satisfying or make you want to jump off a bridge. I've enjoyed them but my heart can't take much more. I just want to watch some blowouts. Blowouts such as the games against san fran and the girls at home were a thing of beauty.
I love watching the opposing team catch a beat down and walk around with their hands on their hips and shaking their head, looking at the clock, wondering when the hell the game will be over.
with the weapons we have lord only knows what to expect. I think its going to be special.
I've thrown "cautiously optimistic" out the door as far as I feel about the upcoming season. I am EXTREMELY optimistic borderline cocky about it.

great observation ... remember only two years ago when we ranked near the bottom of the league in big plays (40+ yards)?? I think we only had like 6 all season.
Then last year we get Santana and DP to address that and Santana tops 2004's total on his own... and didn't waste much time doing it either: I remember the long catch and run against Chicago, and then I heard he had a couple big plays the next week against Dallas, but that game was on too late Monday night and I was sleeping
So ... are we to expect immediate results again? Is one of these guys gonna step up right away and play at pro bowl level all year?

Our O should be really explosive with all these guys. Imagine the trickery we can do with El ... wow! The combo of Lloyd and Moss will be electric. And I haven't mentioned Cooley or Portis yet!!!
Look out in 2006!

1. Much more open passing game (newly added WR)
2. Better offensive play-calling (Saunders)
3. Improved underneath passing game (new TE)
All these benefit Clinton Portis the most. He'll be back to skipping through the secondary vs. grinding it out yard-by-yard against a stacked line.
I'm excited because we have the personnel and the Saunders as the general /genius to really have an exciting offense this season. If we're not a Top 5 offense i'll be surprised.

Don't get me wrong, I am really excited, but I am not ready to claim that this Redskins team will re-write the history books. In fact, my reason for being optimistic has NOTHING to do with the players that I think we mostly overpaid. I am excited to see Gibbs, Saunders, Williams and the other coaches give it a real run! For the most part I am on the fence about our new players.

Don't let Peter King hear you say that .... I don't agree though. From watching Lloyd's highlight reels I see a good ability to be an endzone target (great jumping ability and hands, decent height) ... Randle El is unlike any other receiver in the league and will be a real x-factor out of the slot, with Saunder's mind devising "gadgets" for him like the Whiz in Pitt it should bring another dimension that Santana and BL and DP don't bring
I agree none are big enough to go over the middle on a regular basis ... but we have the Cool one along with Fauria and CP for that too...

The funny thing about that is the Eagles are the team that pass the most. Just shows how balance helps everything.

good point ... what do you think of dallas balance on offense?
I thought they became pretty one dimensional second half of the year (except for a couple good performances by Marion Barber) .... we saw what happened to Bledsoe's MVP season after that (what a joke) ... are we to expect a better running game from them?
i think julius appears to have the injury bug pretty good, and I'm not sold on Barber as a longterm solution

The 'Girls finished 6th in the NFC in rushing but I agree that they became one-dimensional during the second half of the season.
They don't have a good RB, they signed 2 new guys for the OL, just like they did last year, maybe it'll work out better this time.... Naw, they are going to be a mess this year, having TO only expediates the coming meltdown. Get your popcorn ready.

Look for a lot of 3rd and long conversions. I can see us either seeing a lot of 8 man covers or a lot of 8 man blitzs. We are going to put the defense in a lot of tough situations. How will the defend short yardage and goal-line? It will be almost impossible.

I dont see how any defense especially in the NFC East is going to be able to matchup with all our threats. Last year they were having problems because of Moss, Cooley and Portis now they have to deal with Moss, Randle El, Lloyd, Cooley, and Portis. I guess they will have to just pick their poison.

A healthy Eagles team will probably give our offense the toughest game. They have arguable the best secondary in the NFL and are a good team against the run.

They gave us a run for our money both times last year with a depleted line-up. They will have taken a lot from this last year. They will be very resiliant and they will not stop fighting.

people might not remember we set a league scoring record back when Riggins was grinding it out, eating the clock, Theisman throwing to smurfs, and winning the turnover ratio was a huge part of that. we were something like +35 in that department back then.

You said a mouthful hear. I was just thinking that these acquisitions are also going to help our offensive line. Teams will either need to blitz, which the Skins now have the weapons to beat, or drop 8 men into coverage. Hello Clinton Portis. I think teams will do the latter, which plays into Gibb's hands. Hopefully this will also help Brunell take less hits and stay healthy for the entire year.

I also like seeing the organizational changes in the front office. I think Gibbs is having major influence there. The Redskins seems to plan and execute better than in the past. It seems there is continuity between offense, defense and special teams. It seems the scouting dept, the coaches and the management are working on the same page. I just couldn't believe the Bears let A. Randall El leave a message on an answering machine.
The Skins seem to be looking after the small details as well as the big picture. It is now to be seen if the product on the field lives up to the hype.

That's what I was thinking. Other teams will probably take the strategy of trying to hold us and not get beat big. Then they will see if the can cause some mistakes somehow. I don't think that teams will be very successful lining up their whole team in the box. We have to many weapons throught the air for that to really work.
