View Full Version : Ever send a text message to the wrong person?

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Today I went out for lunch with a fellow co-worker. While eating, I told him all about this ugly experience I had with another co-worker. Well, when we got back from lunch I continued telling him about it on the MSN Messanger. I had written like 5 seperate texts and was wondering why he didn't answer back. So I take a closer look and realize I was in fact chatting with the other co-worker, the one I had a problem with. Very awkward.

I know I shouldnt laugh but that is kind of funny. And yes I have done that many times. Not exactly to the person I was fighting with but just sending one to the wrong person. Im sorry that happened but maybe someday you will laugh.

reminds me of a story where my buddies conference called one guy they knew, then after they left a message just went on ripping the guy apart. Ended up they didn't hang up the phone and their whole conversation was in his mailbox. Now thats funny.

It was really, really weird.

The guy was like huh? What are you talking about? So I tried to think fast and decided to act as if it wasn't a mistake, even though I used his name in the text as if I were talking to someone else. So I was like "You understand what I'm saying" and he said "No, I don't understand anything" LOL.

haha well good luck. I hope that works out for you. That would be an amazing save if you pull that off.

There's no way I saved that one. No way. But I don't really care, I can't stand him anyway.

That really sucks. I went out with this girl a while back. She and I had just got done on a date and I said I had to go home early to get up early for work. As soon as i left I called this other girl and was like "so you ready for me to come over and hang out?" she was like yeah. So like an idiot I said that I had just had a horrible time with this girl and that I was so excited to see her." Then came all hell as I had called the wrong number and it was the girl I had just dropped off. She was so mad and cursed me out and never talked to me again. I still went over to the other girls house and she has been my girlfriend for 3 years now lol.

THANK YOU C-7!! That is the funniest thing I've heard all day and I saw the Leprechaun news story from Alabama.

Honestly, maybe people can't relate to "texting", but everyone has put their foot in their mouth one way or the other. At my old job, my old department manacher over used the term "architechts of change". It drove everyone nuts. Well he sends an email thanking two people for coming in over the weekend (think Office Space b/c we were always working on weekends but decided to skip this particular one). I forwarded the email and said to my one friend, "They truly are THE architechs of change".

What I didn't realize is that I had accidently hit "reply all" and not "forward". Talk about a LONG day! We're talking about a guy who was three levels above me.

My wife's co-worker got fired for this.

This person was calling in sick regularly so she could go out on job interviews. One day, she decided to email an old friend from her non-company email account (yahoo/hotmail...etc) about the recent job interview she had one day. She, for some dumb odd reason, typed in her boss' email address. She caught it the split second she sent it, however it was too late.

SO.......her plan was to go into his office and delete it. However, he was in his office on the phone. (dulp) Plan B was to quietly walk in and whisper if she could check something on his computer while he talked on the phone; then delete it with her back to him. He was NOT up for that, so he immediately hung up, read the email and fired her on the spot.

Dumb girl. She was planning on leaving the company anyway, but not that quickly. After the firing, the boss said; "Now you have plenty of time to search for jobs.". LOL

Here is a practical joke I use on co-workers on rare occasions...

Do you guys ever get all-staff emails that are stupid? Well we do. One day, someone emails the entire staff that someone left their keys in the women's bathroom on the 6th floor. (instead of emailing the dozen women on the 6th floor, duh)

So my co-worker forwarded the email ONLY to our sales department and ripped the girl. I quickly replied back to her; "Hey...you accidently replied to the entire staff". Of course, I added "all-staff" to the CC: portion of her orginial email to look like she really did email her terrible comments to the entire company. She came running into my office almost in tears. It was great.

WOW!!! That is great (cruel but great). I was emailing a buddy and his girlfriend and I took her off one email and asked, "So when are popping the question again". :D

He was deathly white until he realized it was a joke.

Ditto.

I don't understand how it could be more convenient to leave a text message than just calling the person or leaving a voice-mail.

Actually, when I said text message I was referring to MSN and other instant messenger programs. I guess I didn't explain myself correctly. Lol, I don't even own a cellphone.

And to your question I answer this: I chat all day at work with the guy who is sitting right next to me. It's more fun and this way nobody knows we're goofing off.

lol

Seriously though, for one thing I have no idea when my friends have class. Any time from 8 AM to about 8PM is a possibility, so during the day on weekdays its safer to just ssend a text, more likely they'll get it, no chance of interrupting their class if they forgot to silence their phone. Also, I have to do a lot of organizational stuff for my sailing team. If I have class all morning before practice, I can either send a few texts during teh day and figure out who's coming, or or try to call 5 to 15 people in half an hour, while I'm also trying to get lunch, grab my gear from my dormroom, and figure out where I left my car. Text messages can definitely be a lot more convenient.
