Snyder to meet on Bailey

Post is reporting that a meeting has been schedule for next week between Dan Snyder and Jack Reale, agent for Champ Bailey to discuss a contract extension.

We all hope everything gets done right away so Champ can have nothing but football on his mind once the season starts.

Ideally, I'd rather see him get the extension in the later part of the year (Around the same time we signed Jansen)....That way, Champ would be playing with "incentive". :)

There is nothing more productive than a player in his "contract year".

MAybe but you heard what champ said : " i'm the No1 Cornerback"... he wil defintely go for very big bucks... at least a signing bonus equal to coles'

I don't think the contract as a carrot in front of him is necessary in this circumstance. Champ's a perfectionist. I honestly believe a true technician like him plays hard and well to prove it to himself as much as for the paycheck. I doubt we see any decline in his play after he does cash out. He seems to be internally motivated which is the best kind of determination.

I agree HY again with you. Champ, i dont think it matters about contract year or no contract year. Bottom line is he has pride in his abilities and play. Smoot on the other hand i believe would be motivated for the big bucks contract in a contract year.

I heard Champ say that he wants very badly to say a Redskins (not in the same way Gardner said it). He mentioned that he doesn't want this to drag out... but the odds of it hapening before the season starts are slim to none.

Chances are it will happen just like Jansen... afterall... Danny didn't sell his company for 2.3 billion by being stupid.
