This is terrible, and he was only 30 years old.

Everytime they strap themselves into a racecar they put themselves at risk.
Condolences to everyone associated with Paul Dana.

You can watch the video by clicking on the link that Dolla Bill put up. It's not gruesome or anything like that but you see the incredible impact of the collision. Dana's car is the one that comes flying into the wrecked car at 200 mph.

This was horrible. Unfortunatly the driver he hit couldn't do a thing.
I heard some interviews with the other INDY drivers that said Paul Dana never stopped full acceration after the yellow came out; and passed several slowing drivers prior to the collision. Not sure if he didn't see the yellow, or if a spotter negleted to tell him; or what.
Horrible, regardless.
Anyone know the status of the other driver?

don't know the status of the other driver other than he's alive. last night on sportscenter, though, they said that the team confirmed that the spotter warned him and he acknowledged that he heard.

The other driver is uninjured, amazingly. He was kept in the hospital overnight as a precaution.
The onboard telemetry showed that Dana only started to brake tenths of a second before the impact.
