It will take like 4 hours to get to the game. The Beltway will not move when combining game traffic and rush hour.

A double header Monday night? Interesting, I wonder if it will be just for opening week or all season? At least it's a 6 and 9 unlike last year's debacle of having one at 7:30 and the other at 9.

One great thing that can come from this is that our crowd seems to be a little more lively and rowdy at night games. I have no idea why... maybe the church folk just aren't in the right mood on Sundays at 1pm. This could be a rockin' way to kick of our 2006 season!!

Maybe I was, but the '05 game did not even occur to me at all. I think for me it transcends a mere "football game". One of my good friends (a dallass fan but a good guy) is moving back. If he wasn't such a nice guy I'd get him a copy of both games on DVD...

The first-ever tripleheader on Thanksgiving. The Dolphins will visit the Lions in the early game (CBS), followed by the Buccaneers at the Cowboys (FOX) and capped off by the Broncos at the Chiefs (NFL Network).

A THIRD Thanksgiving day game?!?! And it's on NFL Network, one of EIGHT games to be played on NFL Network this coming season. Hmmmmm....

The Chiefs used to host a Thanksgiving Day game in the AFL days and have long campaigned to host one in the NFL.

"I've thought all those games should be rotated," Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt said Monday. "But it's a plus for us to have the first one at night.

"We have a history in them. We always hosted them before the merger, and we've wanted to do it again."

The Broncos-Chiefs match will be the first live, in-season game on NFL Network, which will show eight prime-time games from Thanksgiving through the end of the season. Those games will be on either Thursday or Saturday nights.

In 2005, Philly hosted the Falcons. In 2004, Carolina hosted the Packers. The "tradition" of the SB champ playing in the first game of the season (Thursday before the first Sunday of the regular season) has been around for only 2 years along with the SB loser playing on Monday night.... otherwise the SB champ played on the first MNF game for only 2 years prior to that.

This is going to be awesome. I really think after this game the football world see just how serious we are along with Joe Gibbs about where we are and where we're going. It's gonna be very fun, loud, and a long night for the Vikings. Williams will eat Childress' offense alive again.

no way at the late spot, i like the early spot, i have to go to work the next day and im sure work would suck if i was up till 2am and had to get up at 6, on top of not being able to fall asleep from excitement if the redskins win. i will not go to bed before the game goes off even if were getting blown out or blowing out the vikings. that cowboys game in week 2 that lasted a rather long time last season kept me up a while, but it was well worth it. everyone i talked to in person the next day had went to bed before brunell and moss created some of that redskins magic that makes us fans and the players feel so great, so proud. but anyways, im glad we got the early game. also its kind of cool to be the only team to have been part of the first two monday night double headers. but you never know, i could end up taking that tuesday off just so i can get really drunk and watch both games and celebrate the return of football season, lol

The 3 points for Minnesota come from a new rule* that allows teams that are playing the redskins to start every drive at the redskin 20. However, the skins D sacked the QB 26 times during the course of the game, thereby forcing the Vikings into punting situations all but once.

*This new rule is the second to last thing Tagliabue does as commish, the last being a decree that declares that the giants are granted homefield advantage in every game forever, including the playoffs and the superbowl.

Question, you can't purchase tickets until the schedule comes out correct??

6:00pm on Monday? Thats stupid.

It will take like 4 hours to get to the game. The Beltway will not move when combining game traffic and rush hour.

By the time you read this post, you'll know that game-time is 7:00pm

Serious tailgaters will be in line, to get in the parking lots by 2:00. Traffic won't be an issue.....
