it would not surprise me one bit.. i saw an interview with him during the playoffs and he was open about how he went up to paul allen's office intending to resign before the past season. he said he had told his wife he had enough of the frustrations off field.. he said as he got to the door he changed his mind and they agreed he would come back as coach..

that is a guy who does not live to coach.. he will leave when he has had enough

If he resigns after the '06 season, farewell and goodbye, don't let the door hit you. His whining over the SB officiating has really put me off on him. I agree losing sucks, especially on such a big stage, but if he would've COACHED (how about the wasted time before the end of the first half?) the Hawks could've stayed in the game for the most part...

I bet that he comes back within 3 years after he retires.

there was an article earlier today in which he was quoted as saying he still wanted to be a GM.. talk about the peter principle at work.. like casserly touting himself as the next commissioner...(casserly did not exactly say that, but there have been some rumors of his "interest")

I respect Gibbs even more as a person for walking away when he did. If Holmgren thinks it is time to step aside I say do it. The worst thing you can do is burn yourself out and just "go through the motions".

i think holmgren has a decent life outside of football. he sure loves to ride his harley..
he sounds like he would be fun to hang out with or play golf with after he retires.
with gibbs, it would be like sitting at the feet of the Allmighty. if i were ever fortunate enough to see him i am sure i would be totally tongue tied and stammer like a fool

It can be highly draining. If he thinks it's time to walk then do it. He can always come back as The King has done.

Thats pretty surprising since he's coaching a very good team that's heading in the right direction now. How old is he anyways?
