The Milwaukee Brewers are 5-0, the best team in baseball. The Detroit Tigers aren't so bad either. What's goin on? The yankees are 1-4, but the last time that happened was '98. Need I remind anybody about the '98 season? I wound up at a ticker-tape parade in NYC, and got to miss school. Philadelphia's teams are a combined 0-10. Can someone explain any of this?

IT. IS. EARLY.
On a side not, the season doesn't officially start until the Cardinals open the new baseball cathedral known as New Busch Stadium. What a place to play a game.

Is this 1906? Philly has two teams? Are there enough batteries to go around to support two franchises?

Opening Day today at Fenway, Yankee Stadium too.
Coco Crisp out for at least 10 days with a fractured finger, and some reports had him out 6-8 weeks. We'll see what happens.
Sox have a new closer in Papelbon and a really expensive set-up man in Keith Foulke.
Question for the Yankee fans, I was watching their game Saturday and couldn't figure out why the lineup goes L-R-R-R-L-L. Why don't they switch it up so that the opposing teams can't go to the lefty matchup for both Giambi and Matsui late in the game? I looked around the intraweb but couldn't find any explanation from Torre, I thought some of you guys might know the answer.

Torre's never managed like that. He has mostly picked the order based on how the player hits. I wish he'd swap Sheff and Giambi though to make it L-R-L-R-R-L since that's followed by S-L-S most times.

I think one of the biggest surprises of the first week(s) is Detroit. Chris Shelton hitting everything in sight and Ordonez actually playing like he did three years ago...oh, and their pitching has been outstanding. Who would have thought? They have a fairly solid line-up top to bottom and if they can get their pitchers to hold up then they may just have a shot at the post season.

What a place to play a game.I saw that a couple nights ago on Sportscenter and was stunned. That new stadium is absolutely amazing. Growing up living close to St Louis I had been to the former Busch Stadium many many times and can attest to the love that town has for the Cardinals. They deserve that stadium and will fill it up for years and years.

I am going to St. Louis in June and unfortunately the Cards are away that weekend.

Well I'm pleasantly suprised with the Braves O while their pitching leaves me more than a little disappointed. I realize it's early and our pitching will probablyy come around but it's pretty uncharacteristic of the Braves. Leo may be gone but you cant tell me that now proven vets like Hudson and Smoltz can't pitch.
