John Madden said he would not be surprised if the Packers traded Brett Favre. Madden made his comments about Favre Tuesday night on the "NFL Total Access" show. Madden acknowledged that Favre repeatedly has said to him and others that he does not want to end his career with any team but the Packers.

The Packers F.O. would get killed by a mob if they ever traded Favre. He is their team embodied in one QB...
...so yeah, Madden is an idiot.

Madden isn't the only person talking about the Packers trading Favre.
Several analysts spoke about this on the NFL Sirius Radio this morning.

I've heard other analysts mention it as well so it isn't just Madden thinking it.

Sure they are attached to him along with the fans but if they got a deal they couldn't refuse they may pull the trigger. Favre is on his last years and Green Bay needs a serious rehaul. Although unlikely it would be in their long term benefit. I wonder what Mr. Favre's thoughts are on this.

Maybe they trade him to Dallass, where TO can team up w/him like he's always wanted...I remember those comments during last season being up here in the Philly area - I was like, "Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Then I cracked up knowing that Philly was officially in the toilet;)

It would be the smart thing to do though, i mean cmon that team is in a rebuilding stage probably for several years and it would be smart to find out sooner then later if rogers has what it takes and get past his growing pains. I think ideally for green bay favre retires.

I believe the only reason other "analysts" are talking about it is because Madden said it.

The Packers were here before Brett Favre and they'll be here after him. The team owes it to the fans to explore all possibilites in order to improve the team. If they feel Brett is simply stalling in order to force the Packers into a decision Favre himself does not want the burden of making, then they should and probably have explored trading him. Although considering his salary and his declining performance Im sure the Packers wouldnt get much more than a mid round draft pick at best.
Favre was awful last year. And considering the lack of improvement in the O-line of the Pack and his advancing age, Brett will be awful again. Im sure Packer fans would rather get a draft pick then watch their hero toss 30 interceptions again.
Hey Brett, Javon Walker thinks you should make a decision.

How do we know Madden said it first? He might have, but we only have very limited information. Maybe an "unidentified team source" leaked it. Who knows, we certainly don't know enough to know where the thought originated.

It's extremely difficult to believe they would consider trading Favre. Especially, when they would rather let Walker sit than trade him. I just dont see it having any validity.

Madden has probably forgotten more about football than most people could hope to learn :(

Madden isn't an idiot as much as he is goofy and getting old. I personally always loved the guy b/c you can at least tell he is passionate (I don't get the feeling guys like Al Michaels, Buck, and other LOVE the game).
I hope another football "personality" steps up when Madden is finished.

When you're making blatantly idiotic remarks about the football game (they need to score touchdowns to score! uh oh, its fourth down, if they don't convert the other team gets the ball! etc etc) I tend to consider that person an idiot. Madden may have been a good coach back in the day, but he comes off as a dumb*** broadcaster...
...thats my two cents *phwew* got that off my chest haha

It's the classic difference between knowing something and knowing how to impart it to others. Madden plops more football knowledge into the porcelain each day than I will ever know. Period. The man is a Superbowl winning coach, for crying out loud. But that doesn't make him an effective communicator. Like others have said on this topic, you suffer through the 55 minutes of drivel for the 5 minutes of brilliant insight with Madden.
