Shortly after reaching the playoffs for the first time since 1999, the Washington Redskins rewarded Vinny Cerrato -- the team's vice president in charge of football operations -- with a two-year extension, league sources said Friday.

gee, 2 years ago we all would have thought this as crazy, and would be opposed to it. now, i guess its good. might as well not change anything in the FO if things are going good.

Vinny seems to have a really good role now that he is fully in charge of scouting and isn't as involved in actual player acquisition. Good move.

It's good to see Spooky Eyes locked up for two more years.

i'm glad to see it too. Abby Normal...obscure reference to the movie Young Frankenstein, because Marty Feldman reminds me of Vinny with those eyes.

Next they'll want Heath Shuler back, huh. :)
Way to go Vinny. As the years went by you got better.

I think Vinny has changed his reputation around here. I remember a few years back, everyone hated Vinny. He's definently turned things around.

He has definitely gotten better at his job over the years, which is what your suppose to do. Like someone stated earlier, he has increase his time with the scouting part and stepped away from the actual FA pick ups. Keep up the good work V!

It probably coincides with Snyder's racquetball membership expiring ... eh, why shake it up now. Seems like Gibbs and company run the show anyway.

i like the continuity of keeping the staff together. someone has to be in charge of all the guys pouring over all the scouting information on all the college prospects and pro free agents, and Vinny has been a scout for a lot of years. he and Snyder just get the coaches the information that they want and need. they are both pretty young and should be able to work together for many years.

Vinny is in essence an enabler. He does whatever whoever is in charge of the team wants. That is very Good when Gibbs is in charge of the team, but when Snyder tried to run things early on it was Vinny who helped him bring in all those out of shape old free agents.
However I think Snyder and Cerraot have both learned their lessons from early on and I am glad to see Vinny is staying on. His partnership with Schafer is a big reason we have the ammo to do the things we want to do.

Not a bad move with the influence that Gibbs has been giving to the big boys.

that is the key.. cerrato does the scouting and gibbs has the final say on player moves...

I think this is the main reason why we have basically turned this team completely around. No one has gotten fired in 2 years now. That's amazing.
