What a battle this is going to be in these foru pre-season games. McCnats is not even assured a roster spot and in fact is in dnager of losing it. Coudl our six Wrs be...L. Coles. R. Gardner, T Jacobs, CRussell, S Cloman, and R Flowers.? All i know is for the past two weeks I have heard some impressive stuff coming our fo Flowers and Cloman.
Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31345-2003Aug7.html)
Redskins wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. said yesterday that Cloman, 27, and Flowers, 25, have positioned themselves to possibly earn roster spots.

How many wideouts are we planning on keeping?

Sounds like he might replace McCants as our second posession guy.... That I don't like. I suppose if the coaches think he's really outplayed DMC, he deserves it, but Darnerien was on the team last year, knows the system, has played in regular season games, and can't be put on the practice squad.

I remember Cloman now. Someone else back me up on this. My brother was watching a San Fran game and he called me to the TV. Madden was talking about this huge WR that he thought was TO. Instead it was Cloman. I was wondering why a team didn't claim him.
It'll be excited to see what he can do in the games.

Truant, Cloman is a MONSTER! He looks like a LBer with WR speed! And supposedly has stick'em on his hands because he catches everything thrown too him!

Yeah, I was at camp on Tuesday, and Cloman did look pretty good. I am only concerned with why he has been cut so many times and hasn't "made it" yet. He is already 27 years old. I know that McCants can play (he proved it already last season). Cloman is still a question mark. If Cloman is better and it would truly be an upgrade, then I have no problem letting McCants go (although he is a 'local' kid). I would miss seeing Vivica Fox at some of the games, though;).

The final two spots come down to who can tackle and block on special teams as the article mentions. I'm skeptical of Flowers. Just don't see that little dude contributing much at the NFL level. If he's a hell of a special teamer, then great, but I don't remember him standing out in that area for Dallas last year during the Hard Knocks series. It sounds like Cloman may have more potential than Patrick Johnson who won't get on the field as a speed WR over Coles, Jacobs, or Russell.

Does anyone know what Cloman runs in the 40? I think that speed might be a factor as well.

Truant,
While I can't confirm the Madden aspect of the story, I read that Cloman's Skins Teammates are calling him TO, as he is a physical clone of the SF wideout. That alone, is impressive. If Darnerian doesn't make the cut, then I hope this guy is, because when Gardners contract comes due, he will be seeking Coles type money, and I don't see how they can fit 2 contracts like that at one position under the cap. Cloman could be groomed to fill the #2 wideout spot after Gardner leaves.

Y'all are crazy! McCants has got to make the squad. I need to see Vivica on the sidelines, gameday!

im waiting for the local channels to feature this cloman dude. i havent seen anything about him but it seems as if he is climbing rapidly. and if he is being compared to TO with his physical stature, then i really do need to SEE him....lol...:badgirl:

Lady will you be able to see the game on TV tomorrow nite? My bet is, you well get to see alot of him then. I doubt Gardner and Coles play very much at all.

Oh stop fantasizing about the players, Lady. You're supposed to see how well they play, not how ripped they look. ;)

Cloman speed : 4.8 He's been in every league in the pass four years (including XFL). Thing about him is heart. He's the one who is last to be cut or not invited back the next year but doesn't give up - just works hard and keep on trying. If you look close at this guy he IS cut. All he has to do at this point is kick it up a knotch on ST and not drop catchable passes or fumble during the game. He has had a great first two weeks at camp.

Flowers is a joke....He didn't even drive up to camp in his car, because he knew he would get cut. Instead, he simply took the Amtrack up to No. VA and will take it back down home when he gets cut.
DMC will heal...and eventually make the squad, imo. Coles, Jacobs, and Russell will provide the speed. Gardner and DMC will provide the possession receiver qualities.

I really hope Skaggs part 2(Flowers) doesn't make the team. I just think it would be a waste to keep him and cut Patrick Johson or even McCants. That said I'm not surprised that McCants might be cut as I've been saying all offseason that the team really isn't all that high on him.
