View Full Version : What are the Jets up to?

The New York Jets have announced that they are now going to charge people on their season ticket waiting list (22,000 strong) $50 a year to be on the list. That's right, $50 a year to wait in line for tickets. You could spend your entire lifetime on the list and never get tickets, and now they have to pay $50 a year for tickets they may never see!

Ah, but there is a fringe benefit. You will get a $25 gift certificate from....NYJets.com. That's right, a place where you can spend more money on the Jets. I get a $25 gift certificate every other week to Bed, Bath and beyond. Why do I need another gift certificate to spend more money when I will be $50 lighter to get the certificate.

Do the math folks...22,000 season ticket waiting list X $50 a head, that's well over $1million dollars of revenue a year, just for waiting in line for tickets.

There are other teams with a fee for being on a list: Bears, forty whiners, Spats, Brownies....but their fee is a one time fee. Not $50 a year, to stand in line, to wait for tickets you may never get. Someone call ESPN.

I hope everyone who ever bashed the Danny for charging admission to training camp in 2000 takes notice.

Maybe the will try to use the extra loot to not be so thrifty on their tender offers in the future.

Good find robert! I wonder why the media hasn't jumped on this story yet? Oh yeah, it wasn't Snyder.......

Good one Kenny. Like you said earlier, for $500 thousand more dollars, they would still have their WR. But they thought no one else would think he'd be worth a 1st rounder. Heck, they didn't think he'd be worth a first rounder either....

The media will jump on this, the story just broke as wait list people just got the notice in the mail. I originally was annoyed(though it doesn't affect me as I am already a season ticket holder) but I think this has it's benefits as many will probably be upset and not pay it so you can move up the list quicker PLUS they give you a yearbook, a subscripiton to their magazine and the opportunity to be connected to a website where wait list people can purchase tickets from season ticket holders(if a seaosn ticket holder isn't going he can sell it to someone from the wait list at face value on that website). So it's not like you aren't getting anything for your $50.

Still, that is a bit over the top. And Jesus, just think of what's gonna happen once Danny Boy gets wind of this brilliant scheme....

Give me a freaking break here! If this was Dan Snyder everyone and their mother would be jumping down his throat. DO not deny it. It just ticks me off.

Yep, and Jets fans scream "no respect" whenever they get a chance. If this was Snyder, there would be kffl updates about this already circulating throughout the internet.

When Snyder charged fans $10 for admission to TC, he made that NFL Experience, concession stands and seating available to the paying fans, so it's not like they weren't getting anything for their $10. Still, Snyder was bashed.

We just got out of almost cap hell b/c the FO(specifically Parcells) overpaid for non-essential players. We need the expansion draft last year to save us but we still lost a ton of talent(much more than this offseason) so I am glad they are being responsible w/ the cap, don't worry you'll see what cap hell looks like in a couple of years.

You are right but Danny has done some things that has drawn attention to himself so the media will always be all over him. He's like a little George Steinbrenner w/o the winning yet.

I have heard that other teams do this as well, it's frustrating being a fan nowadays- who knows what's next?

Man, please. Carry your trolling back to wherever you crawled out of the darkness from. We've dealt with the cap every year, making decisions that had to be made. Take your Jets favorite anti- skins (you'll see cap hell in a couple of years) rallying cry somewhere else and see if someone else will buy it. The Raiders, Broncos and a few others were in serious cap trouble this past off season to use as examples. Both made the neccesary cuts and have still have poised themselves to be contenders.

Here's the deal. You are more then welcome to post here being a fan of the opposition. But I have to ask you for the health and well being of the Redskins fans here, please use original content in your attempts to put down this proud, 3 Lombardi Trophy owning franchise. It is my responsibilty to make sure that the Redskins fans here are taken care of, and you talking about cap hell in relation to us tends to cause queziness in the regulars stomachs. It makes us all sick to have to hear an outsider try to tell us what is going to happen us. Remember, originality is the key.

You made a comment about how "thrifty" our organization was(not knowing they spent more $ on signing bonuses last year than any team in re-signing more important players like Curtis Martin & Kevin Mawae) and I responded. If I'm not allowed to respond to your ignorant comment then why am I here?

My ignorant comment was in response to the ignorant comments 95% of Jets fans have been making about my team since FA began. You don't like it, tough.

Why are you here? That is a good question.

I don't have a problem with you personally. This thread has nothing to do with the actual game itself, nor does your issue with Coles speaking his mind, so you came here to talk about more then just the game on the field. You've made numerous posts about UNC and Roy Williams, which has nothing to do with football. You are more the welcome to discuss whatever topic you choose here, but don't think that your comments about whatever will not garner responses. Sorry if you have a problem with that, but this hailRedskins.com, not ganggreen.com

Hey, you are the one that said that you came here to only talk football. I didn't say it.
