I always liked Big Daddy. I would love to see him back with us adding depth to the Dline.

He is old and we just drafted 2 DT's.

I liked BIG DADDY also, maybe because of our past history with Dave Butz. A wide body up front makes the Linebackers corps much better. The big guys keeps those blockers busy, which is why Ray Lewis was crying about getting some beef up front.

Never was a big fan of Big Daddy. Surprised he lasted another 3 years in the league after we released him.

he actually played pretty well for them in spurts over the last 3 years , they got more production from him than Cincy or us IMO.

i am with you on that one... he will cost a lot to sign, even at vet minimum plus incentives.. plus, we need to get younger and more athletic at the def line.. hopefully golston and montgomery will provide years of service rather than 1 short term solution

good god no. Let Big Daddy go somewhere else. We don't need anymore depth on the dline we got 11 legit players for 9 spots right now.

Let him take his lazy bum somewhere other than here.

Let him take his lazy bum somewhere other than here.Seems like the theme of this thread and I'm curious where Big Daddy will land. From this thread alone, I would be surprised if he lands here. Ah but wait a highly missing point about Redskins' free agents under Gibbs'. Although some maybe expensive, almost all of them are are young or in their prime. Not taking a has been at all, but one who has already proven himself and his talent. Nobody ever acknowledges this point but it nicely certainly applies with Gibbs' acquistions.

I personally thought the other news bite at the bottom of the page was much more interesting than Big Daddy's release:

Jets sign Graham to extension
The New York Jets signed punter Ben Graham to a contract extension Monday.

Last year, the Australian punted 74 times for a gross average of 43.7 yards and a net average of 37.9 yards in his first NFL season. Both of those were sixth-best in the AFC.

The 32-year-old also became the oldest rookie in NFL history to make an opening day roster.

And here's the part that got me even more interested in our UDFA punter, David Lonie, who hails from Australia and played Australian Rules Football prior to college ball:

Graham signed with the Jets last year after playing 12 seasons of Australian Rules Football, where he was one of the biggest stars in the Australian Football League.

Those ARF players have some MONSTER legs and are very good at placing their kicks, especially when they are kicking long passes to a particular area where a teammate is waiting to receive it. Hopefully we've got one of the good ones now as well.
If so, Mr. Derrick Frost...:weak:

your point is very well made... we have been loading up on a different type of free agent the last few years.. sub 30 for the most part, hard workers, and just coming into their primes.. patten and fauria are the exceptions

I think he got cut because he is thinking about retiring, and the lions got tired of waiting you him to make a decision.

At this point, I don't care where our punter hails from as long as he the job done. Our punting needs improved.

Big Daddy had some good games for us, but in the end we paid too much in draft picks and salary cap money for what we got.

plus, he never had much of a work ethic.. and that kind of attitude is bad for a team

His daughter went to school with me up until last year and supposedly he's a nice guy... I wouldn't mind making a little room to help out some of the younger guys on the line

respectfully, he might be a wonderfull guy to suck down a beer or 2 with or eat some ribs.. but, taking him would mean we would lose one or more of the younger guys we now have.. between golston, montgomery, killings, mania brown we will find a cheaper, younger, more athletic player with a far better future upside..

pass on big boy

:imshock:

Say What?

In his prime he was serviceable at best, if he had a prime. What's he got in the league now, 11 years? 12?

I'd take a pass. Why let him occupy a spot that could be devoted to a promising, developing youngster?

I was reading the Detroit Free Press and they mentioned that Big Daddy was contemplating retirement and that is why he was released, not because his playing ability declined. They had a pretty big combo with Big Daddy and Shawn Rogers. Now for my reason for posting. The same article mentioned that his agent was Brigman Owens. I thought about it for a few minutes, did some research, and lo and behold, Brigman Owens is none other than Brig Owens, old #23, one of the Over the Hill Redskins, and one of the 70 Greatest Redskins. I remember I met him back at the Alabama Ave Sears when I was a small fry back in 1972 or 1973. He autographed a picture for me and mispelled my sister's name on hers. Believe it or not folks, players used to make public apperances back then in department stores.
