From the Washington Post: Juan Carlos Navarro, who was selected in the second round of the 2002 draft by the Wizards, is interested in leaving Europe for the NBA. The Wizards control Navarro's NBA rights but his contract with FC Barcelona contains a hefty buyout clause. Navarro, a shooting guard, is considered one of the top players in Europe.

"It's a door I do not want to close," Navarro said during a news conference yesterday in Barcelona. "I have been thinking about [playing in the NBA] this year, but there are many complications."

I've talked to several friends that follow European basketball and many of them have said that Navarro would be able to make a solid impact on the team as as scorer and PG. The description I received was that he is very similar to Juan Dixon in the scoring mentality but is much more confident as a ball handler and a distributer. I'm holding my breath on this but if he comes over it could really help add another piece to the puzzle.

hmm I'm not really sure what to think about this. I'll have to look him up to get some info.

I've seen him play lots of times, especially with Gasol on the Spanish national team..the comparison with Dixon is pretty accurate..he is a shoot-first PG, but he's also pretty good at getting the team involved. He could certainly provide a spark off the bench..

So who's minutes does he take? Daniels?

He would probably take some of Daniels minutes and give Gilbert more of a break. He could play in the backcourt with either guy either as the PG or shift over to the SG.

Exactly we need a solid big man not dominant just a solid every night guy like "Illgalskus" or maybe the Wizards can bring Ben Wallace back home now that would be huge!!

So you let a quality player who happens to be a PG but could help with the bench scoring go? Although I agree PF and C are areas of concern right up there with them was scoring off of the bench. In the playoffs we got no points off the bench from anyone aside from Antonio Daniels. This team has more then one hole and this could help in plugging one of those holes.

Also guys we CANNOT afford to sign Ben Wallace. We are already 4 million over the Salary Cap with Jared Jefferies as a FA. If you want ANY hope at all to add an inside presence it means trading Jefferies in a sign and trade and also including another player of significant value (likely Jamison). Other then that there will be significant FA signings when you don't have the cap room or large expiring contracts to offer to other teams which the Wizards have neither.

Yeah I see your point. Does anyone know if he can play defense? If he can't, he would be no help to this team.

Sounds like our very own Ben Gordon. :awesomewo

We need help in the paint, yeah, but there's no reason to turn down excellent depth at guard.

i would be willing to see a move of jamison if it can involve getting ben wallace. line up could look something like arenas, hayes, butler, haywood, and wallace. that wouldnt be half bad.
