I know as a team the Skins just looked bad last night, but what do you think about the possibility of either Cloman or Flowers taking one of the Wide Receiver spots, or possibly both. Let's assume there will be six spots ( just for the sake of this argument ), any chance these two could replace McCants or Johnson?

I don't think that Johnson is in a position to be considered a lock. I think that he is and always was in a dogfight to make this roster. From what I've heard and seen Cloman may really be a keeper. The one in danger at losing a spot that may have been semi-guaranteed is McCants because he hasn't been able to do squat since the first couple days of camp. Unless the coaches think that from last year they are confident in what he brings to the table, he needs to get healthy fast.

Yep, McCants could wind up being let go. I wouldn't be surprised at all....

I have heard nothing but good things about Coleman. I wouldn't be suprised if he useats McKants..

I have been down on Johnson ever since they signed him, but he did catch the only TD pass we almost had last night

He should have caught it Jeff. He was all alone in the back of the end zone.:p

Yeah, there was no real demonstration of skill there. He just kinda stood there, no blazing speed down the sideline, no circus catch over three defenders.

I hope Cloman makes it, but at the expense of Johnson, not McCants.

I think Cloman is definately a keeper. Got hurt twice last night and still played. Tough guy.

ya'll seem to have some underachievers at WR
but the starters look good for both of our teams
coles, gardner and galloway, bryant should each prove to be among the better tandems if the QB's can get the job done!

i just hope that one of our QB's can be as promising as Ramsey!
that is if SS will leave him in long enough to learn something!now that i think on it some, i am certain that ya'll should stick with wuerful! that would definitely be best!! ;)

correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't spurrier like big play receivers?
McCants is more of a possession receiver
Coleman showed big play potential
I can see coleman taking a spot
I wouldn't rule pat johnson either because of his down field speed.

Colman showed big play potential because they decided to throw to him on a fade. It could have just as easily been McCants on that route.

On the other hand, I am a bit curious as to how fast Colman is....

From what I read, he isn't a blazer, just a tough, strong guy with alot of heart. I thought I read he runs in the 4.5 range, but I'm not sure.

you guys have one of the most interesting starting trios at receivers with coles, gardner and jacobs. They're right up there with the raiders trio. Gardner is going to shine with coles keeping doubles teams off him.

Jacobs could shine as well.

Scott Cloman (if he can make it through training camp without a major injury) is on this team at the #5 or #6 spot.
WR:
#1: L. Coles
#2: R. Gardner
#3: T. Jacobs
#4: C. Russell
#5: S. Cloman
#6: P. Johnson (barely holding this position)
R. Flowers (only reason he's ahead of McCant - he's not hurt)
D. McCants (needs to get on the field and start playing)
S. Dillard (having a good camp)
J. Johnson (maybe gone by next week)
P. Woodcock (might have already been released)

One (maybe two) will be on the practice squad.

Been hearing nothing but good things about Cloman...Johnson is the one on the hot seat not Mcants imo.

Whoever can tackle better on special teams between Cloman, Flowers, McCants, and Johnson should get the last two spots. Period. We suffered in return coverage last season and need competent guys on that unit. Our top 4 spots will get 98% of all balls on offense. Discussing the #5 & 6 guys' abilities in this area is pretty irrelevant.

You said it rskin...HEART !!! That's what most of our Recievers need. I've always thought Rod needed a heart as bad as the cowardly lion but on sat night he took a wr screen pass and lowered the boom on a couple of db's. I liked what I saw from Cliff Russel. He's got monster big play potential. I think they'll keep PJ just because of his speed. I'm not sold on cloman or flowers yet but cloman looks promising...

If all the skins had a fraction of Lavar's HEART we'd run over teams like crazy...

Its only one preseason game, guys....

I know we would all like the idea of picking up a "diamond in the rough" with Cloman, but the truth is that he made one catch. Just one! Richmond Flowers made three catches, but it doesn't mean he moved up the charts any further than anyone else.

Despite being absent on Saturday, McCants still has a spot on this team, IMO. Aside from Gardner, he is the only other WR in camp who has actual on-field experience in Spurrier's system. (and by the way, McCant's has PLENTY of heart)

Good points DJ and lets also remember we have three more pre-season games to go. Impressions areted roster spots. Gardner, Coles, Russell, and Jacobns are locks, the other are open and it will take good play at WR but even better play at St's to make the team.
