I know this movie is about a year away, but they just released the movie poster for the film. Transformers was just about my entire childhood, and I am really stoked to see this movie, but I do not want to get all my hopes up for it. If you click on the movie poster, it takes you to the site where there is a countdown. I think the first trailer will appear on either Superman Returns, or Pirates of the Carribbean.

not sure, but steven spielberg is directing it and i think optimus prime is in a lot of the scenes so it can't be a remake of the animated one... well maybe... but he better be kicking ass and not just talking all the time.

A little bit of information on the movie. Btw, Spielberg is producing it, with Michael Bay (The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and The Island) directing.
Beast Wars transformers was a really, really well written series.

beast wars was AWESOME. in college, we'd have 20 guys packed in a room every day watching it. dino-bot was amazing!

Holy crap, check out these set pics from the Transformers movie. It shows a lot of the actors and a dude who looks very much like the actor Anthony Anderson (although he is not listed as part of the cast right now).
Anyways, the pics aren't that cool til you check out Anthony (or his lookalike) rocking the CLINTON PORTIS JERSEY!! How sweet is that??
Are the Skins and CP getting a shout out in the Transformers movie??? If so, then Michael Bay, you sir, are THE MAN!!!

Here is some good news:
The fourth of July is a killer opening date. It means they expect a lot from this movie in the box-office. Which tends to mean it, at the very least, won't completely suck. But its still over a year away and that date isn't set in stone. Look out for news of them pushing back the date...that means its not looking good. If it ends up opening in Feb. the movie probably sucks. Feb is like a action movie graveyard.
Bad News: July 4 puts it in close competition with Harry Potter(which I believe is still un-official, but the rumor is July 7(7/7/07), which is a Sat, and 7 is significant in the book somehow or something.), which pretty much spells box-office trouble...:(

I think 7/7/07 will be the release date for the book since it will be book 7! Which as you stated the number 7 is significant in the book.

Yeah, really disappointing. It's no reflection on the movie of course, but I was pretty let down considering how sweet the Spiderman 3 trailer was.
And they really shouldn't have had that stupid countdown on their website if all they were gonna show was a bunch of lame shots of the Mars Rover and a split second of a Transformer covered in shadow.

Harry Potter is scheduled for July 13th now I believe. Transformers already had a release date face-off with Fantastic Four 2, and FF blinked and opted for a later release because they know Transformers would eat their lunch.

if anybody is interested, here's a somewhat long read from some weirdo on the set of the movie, describing in detail about what's going around him in some somewhat entertaining ways. I think its about the Scorponok scene and kind of gives you an idea of what exactly goes down for those "holy crap everything is blowing up" Michael Bay scenes.

They did, but the main reason why he isn't a gun is that the producers and director felt it would be like Darth Vader transforming into a light saber and letting someone else do the work. Also they wanted somewhat realistic physics when dealing with the robots. It had something to do with mass shifting, but in the movie they introduced it with the all-spark. They also said that due to the mass shifting they can introduce more robots like Soundwave.
Btw, if this movie does not win an Oscar for best special effects then the Oscars are rigged.

I'm a Ford guy through and through, but even I have to admit that new Camaro is sweet.

I really like the movie. I was...screw that...AM a big Transformers fan and I thought there was a good chance this movie would blow. It didn't. It was exciting and fun. That said...here are my complaints.
1) Way too many jokes. This movie had some great humor spots, but at times it was really milking for a laugh and it was annoying. It should have just let the humor come.
2) Too many people. Not enough character development with the machines.
3) Too many stupid undeveloped subplots. This goes along with the other one. That Australian chick was hot, but...why bother? Did Tad Hamilton really need a wife and kid at home? Why did the girl need a juvie record? Scratch those subplots and add in some TRANSFORMER subplots.
4) This is just my personal preference, but...they had many homages to the original movie. (Most notably the use of the line "One shall stand, one shall fall") They should have done that more...here are the two example I can think of.
Michael Bay Movie (paraphrase):
Optimus: At the end of this day....one shall stand, one shall fall
Megatron: You try to protect the weak, that is why you fail.
Original Movie:
Optimus: One shall stand, one shall fall
Megatron: Why throw away your life so recklessly.
Optimus: Thats a question you should ask yourself, Megatron.
(Those two lines are awesome and should have been used)
And secondly:
Michael Bay Movie
Jazz: You want a piece of me?
Megatron: No, I'll take two. (rips him in half)
Original Movie:
Megatron: (Long unrelated speach)...the autobots will be vanquished forever.
Ironhide: (reach up, barely able to move) Nooo...
Megatron: Such heroic nonsense (Shoot him in the face)
They should have used those lines somehow in that scene. "No, I'll take two" is a terrible line...ugg
Anyway. I'm a big dork, so yeah. It was a fun movie and I'll have to see it again sometime.

I thought the movie was great. I don't really have time to write my analysis, but I will say I plan on seeing this one again and I hope the rumors of a follow up are true.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm amazed at how overwhelming positive everyone's reviews are. I all but gave up on comic book/cartoon remakes, but I may have to re-evaluate that...
BTW - I was digging through my old bedroom at my folks house a few weeks ago and pulled out Transformers comic books #1, #2 and #3. (along with Smurfs #1, and A-Team #1, #2 and #3...LOL) You guys think these are worth anything now that the movie is so big and heralded?

umm... yeah! I would think so very much. If they are in good condition, they should be worth something definitely.

Finally saw it, just got back and it was fracken awsome. There was quite a bit of humor in it kinda like I remember the cartoons but less cheesy. The action scences were spectacular....so all in all, I loved it. I would have liked to have seen a lil darker side to the storyline...like they did with the last batman...but it was a targeting the whole family and IMO they hit their target!

Awesome movie. Say what you want about Michael Bay but he knows how to deliver an enjoyable theater experience. I can't remember the last time I was so engrossed in the action of a movie that I wouldn't let anything interupt it. Best special effects and especially the sound effects, that I have ever seen or heard. This is the rare movie that I would go see again in the theater.

That was Barricade and you're right, he was badass. Did you notice the mission statement on his squadcar, "...to punish and enslave," LOL! I was surprised that Bumblebee took him down but he came back when Megatron emerged.
That was the only complaint I had with the movie was that not all the fates of the decepticons were shown, or if they were, I missed it. If you stay through the main credits, you do see that Starscream did survive and left Earth.
And yes, that new Camaro is hot, as is that brunette, Micala.

Really, I never stayed through the credits. (Saw it twice.) And yes, Megan Fox is smokin'.

Yeah, they give you three quick clips during the credits. The first two are Sam's idiot parents being interviewed by the local news and they are funny, then finally you see Starscream fly off into space. I don't usually sit through any credits but this was one movie that I was willing to sit for a few minutes afterwards. I didn't want my kids to see my wide open, adrenaline rushed face immediately after the movie ;).

I don't really understand why but Ford doesn't actually claim the car that's used in the movie. It's actually a Saleen S281, Ford refused to be portrayed as a villian in the movie and would not give Bay and the movie rights to use the Mustang name so they used the Saleen version of the car which is technically called Saleen S281. Personally I think it's just a movie and Barricade was awesome to me, I wouldn't mind having my name attached to that car in the movie. Barricade had that "I'm a badass and I know it" type of persona and I loved it. Why wouldn't you want that attached to the only muscle car in your lineup? Especially with Dodge and Chevy coming out with their own retro muscle cars next year. Ford is having enough problems as is, I doubt this would have hurt them any more.

BTW, Micala has a photo shoot in a magazine that I was looking at in my babershop, but for the life of me I can't remember what mag it was. It may have been Maxim, but I'm not sure. The spread was hot to say the least.

Even so, a Saleen is a suped up 'Stang, so I don't understand what they hoped to accomplish with that crap. I totally agree with you in the fact that the exposure surely couldn't be a bad thing for them these days.

I wouldn't have and didn't notice the difference. Just saw that it was a stang and looked badass... like it should :D
