The long, dreary road that is the bleakest of offseason times....the time between the final mini camp and the start of training.....it's a time so long that cyclist have enough time to ride across the entire countryside......OF FRANCE!

For diehard football fans, this is the worst time of year.

Now sure, it's summer time, time to be with your families, time to go to a baseball game or two, barbecues, and whatever other stuff you like, but in the end we all know that this is the depth of the football offseason.

Let the drudgery begin.

Ok let's just go ahead and put every member here on suicide watch for the next month.
It's gonna be rough..not everyone will make it..but I'm confident next year will be worth the wait!!

Even NFL network is dead during this time....coaches are on vacation, players are only doing conditioning and strength training...about the only news you get during this time is of draft picks signing.

Maybe you could post your thoughts on the book here on HR when you're done, I'm curious as to how it is. May has always struck me as an exceptionally intelligent and personable player and broadcaster. Should make for some entertaining reading!

Can we survive the next 5 weeks?...
At least rookie signings are some news.
I remember the days before computers. All the offseason went unreported except for a few days around the draft, and mini camp. The football season lasted from August till January.
We should consider ourselves lucky its not the old days, months at a time with no news at all.

Last season was my rookie year on HR, and for me, that thread ended up being the equivalent of scoring a TD in the SuperBowl, LOL! My experience on HR really blossomed after I went to the HR Tailgate on 9/11, opening day...the people you chat with on here every day are just AWESOME!! I highly recommend it, would give you a great reason for a trip to the East coast!

Quick rundown!!

It depends on what side of the coin your on. One side says that Lumsden is the best thing since sliced bread. He is going to not only make the 53 man roster, but he is going to replace Betts & Rock as the backup RB's. They say his highlight clips show everything one needs to know about Mr. "Sliced Bread" Lumsden. He will probably eventually replace Portis, because he is that damm good!

Did I fell to mention that he could also play any position on our team, to include kicker! Why you may ask? Because he is that damn good!

Then there is the other side. They say that Lumsden won't even make our practice squad. He is too tall to be a successful RB in this league. His highlight tapes are like watching a pee wee football game, there was no competition so of course he looked good! He is a waste of time, so why in the hell is there 600 pages about Lumsden and why does his name manage to pop up in every thread?

Pick your side of the fence!

Me personally I really don't care. Sure I hope that he is the best thing since sliced bread. It would only mean good things for us. The coaches have been talking his name up a little bit, so he must be doing something to get their interest. Now with that said, that doesn't mean that he will even make it on our team as the towel boy (remember I did say that he could do anything)! I think that we should just let this whole thing rest about Lumsden. At least until we see IF he makse the roster. Then if he does we all just need to accept him as a member of our PROUD team & give him the support that we give every other player.

HTTR!

I deal with the offseason blues by reading books about professional football and today I am halfway through "Vince", a biography of Vince Lombardi. The next chapter is about the 1967 season and I almost can't wait to get off work to get to it. My opinion thus far is that Vince Lombardi was successful not through innovation (like Paul Brown, George Halas) but because he was 1) A true lover of the game, 2) A tremendous teacher and 3) Single-mindedly devoted to excellence.
