I know we already know this, but its nice to be liked so:

In his chat today he was asked if the Redskins will be able to adjust to Al Saunders new offense and he had this to say

Last year the Skins line was one of the best in the league in success percentage. I'm not worried about their ability to adjust to Saunders because they used a varied run blocking scheme last year. They used a lot of slants for Clinton Portis (mixed in with a few counters) and ran mostly counters and sweeps with the other backs.

In his article on blocking he had several rankings including a very general Successful Blocking Percentage, how often were blockers successful. C. Samuels ranked 1st in the league and D. Dockery ranked 6th.(94.8% and 91.1% respectively)

Here is the link to the chat:

His article is insider info...so I won't link to it.

too bad they had to face 8 in the box all year. just imagine what Portis will do with that kind of blocking without the 8 in the box.

Good God, Dockery was ranked 6th in the league? Really? That's extremely surprising to me. I saw him improving, but not nearly to that extent.

and some of yall have been hating on dockery. i think the kid can play and that bugel has really helped him a lot. he might not be considered a top notch guard in the league, but that doesnt mean he is no good. he improves each year and he stays healthy, cant ask for too much more. its probably a good thing we wont need to do much in Free Agency in 2007 because we got some guys of our own we need to resign and give extensions/raises too

agree about that. he was improved, but that much ?? hard to tell.. and if so, why did they not start renogiation on a long term contract? i think they are hedging some on dock..

The explanation for successful block was really sketchy. He said that he has alot of metrics that he uses for most stats and he's seen systems that grade success by technique. But he feels this says little about blocking prowess(its more a grade of how well you listen to your coach). So for this stat he has one simple equation: Was the block successful? (ex. If a running lane was created, yes. Otherwise, no.) And then he figures that good technique will show up in this stat(proper technique SHOULD result in better blocking, right?)

I thought Dock played very well last year, but that number does surprise me a bit. I think we'll see Portis mimic his numbers from his days in Denver. 1,500 yards, 13-16 TDs.

He's the football scientist that has put together tons of stats and analysis. He's becoming akin to the guy in baseball (I'm blanking on his name right now) who Billy Beane followed with the A's.

They weren't on the list. It only showed the top ten.
