I think it was Lavar and Morton going at it. I can't be positive but thats who it looked like.
Looked pretty nasty. I think Morton had his helmet ripped off.
Finally some intensity from the players. But, I wonder how Spurrier felt about it? If he didn't like the shot by Bowen, he definately wont like this fight.
Anyone else see it?

Channel 4 sports coming on now. I'll take a look if they show it.

Oh man Kenny. It was a barn burner! Definately worth a look if you get it.

Spurrier is talking to George and Sonny now. Nothing yet.

They didn't show it, but they talked about it. It was apparently Morton and Armstead.

Guys, if you don't see it on the local news, be sure to watch ComCast tonight after the O's game. It'll be worth it.

I like to hear about intensity. But hopefully it ended by the end of the day. Holding a grudge wont help.

Man I saw it. Could'nt tell who was involved there was so many bodies in the mix. There were coaches grabbing players around the waist, keeping them from getting involved.
It started right after LaVar shoved somebody out of bounds.
I should start paying more attention.;)

It's a nice pile-up & clip. But I don't think it adds anything to "intensity".

this has to stop.... the coaches have to have more control over the players... the coaches aren't leading this team..... im sorry but, im starting not to like SS..... just my thoughts....

Fights happen all the time at practice, at all levels of football, from Pop Warner to the pros. Football itself breeds the rise in testosterone. IMO it's unavoidable. I think repeated penalties during games is more of a barometer of how well the coaches are leading a team.

I saw the fight on ComCast during the 6:30 telecast.... It looked quite nasty.... At first, I thought it was a "gang-tackling" drill.... lol After, a few seconds, I finally figured out that a fight had broke out.... Hell! Take out that frustration on the Pats on Saturday.... And, save some of it for the Jets in Week 1.

From redskins.com:
It started out as another routine play during training camp: Chad Morton took a handoff and charged upfield. Jessie Armstead stuffed him at the line of scimmage. Afterwards, the two shoved each other and several players converged to break up the skirmish. With that, the tone of training camp had changed.
Practicing for the first time since their 20-0 defeat to the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, the Redskins picked up their intensity on both sides of the ball.
“We were just competing hard," said Armstead. "We know we’ll need each other when the games start. But this is training camp. This is when you lay down the law on both sides and get the toughness in your team.”
Added linebacker LaVar Arrington, who was right in the thick of the tussle: “We needed that. We definitely needed to be more intense.”
Head coach Steve Spurrier said he encouraged players before practice to increase their intensity level. Overall, it was a vigorous practice—initiated as always by up-tempo coordinators Hue Jackson and George Edwards—with plenty of hard tackling.

Absolutely! Has always happened, always will. We just never use to get it on tape practices & put it on TV for everyone to speculate about. Lord forbid if they had camera rolling on some of Hallas's or Lombardi's practices.

Funny and very intense comments I just saw LaVar make during an interview. He said that he told Davis that he better be prepared for the intensity level to be totally different when they play in November. He said that Rodney Peete's life should have flashed before his eyes when he got close to him, and that he warned him too that come November to watch out. Asked if he thought they heard him, he said the better had.
He wasn't smiling throughout any of these comments either.

I think the TC fights are good in the sense they get your adrenelane (sp) flowing but my coach always made the people who fought run laps and the people who jumped in run also. In a close game, we don't need hot heads or penalties.:twak:

I think they need to get an emotions check. Beqating up each other because they sucked on the field is only going to cause a splintering of the team and possible injuries. Its bullshit, falt out period. You guys can say that it is an attitude shift or aggressiveness but the bottom line is it can also cause hard feelings resentment, and destroy chemistry. I think Spurrier and Edwards need to get control of this team. IMHO!

Damn, how I'd love to have seen that interview!
Ronda Pete better have eyes in the back of his head in Nov. Our guys will be ready to pay back some revenge.

I for one loved the reports about the fights. The fights showed frustration abut the embarrasing loss to Carolina. It hopefully shows that they will have more intensity against New England (the better because I live here and will take a ribbing if they don't!).
I'm tired of comments from players like Arrington warning other teams about what they are going to do. Remember when Trotter warned Philly in the first game last year? Then we promptly came out and got embarrased. Save it for the field and hit someone!

I don't why people are so opposed to fights in practice. It's one thing to punch your running back in the side of the head. It's completely another to get in another player's face after a hard hit. It builds that fire that makes men feel alive. Even hearing about it makes something in me jump. If you don't have that, you will have passive players. It's also important after coming off of an embarrassing performance. You need motivation and if it takes a little bit of fisticuffs, I'm all for it.
Jeff George is the type of person who would take a loss like we did and take it easy, saying that getting psyched up is overrated. It's time for some football now.

Yeah, if we say it, it will surely happen. Don't want to take too much from a crappy pre-season game, but if the players feel embarrased/threatened enough to talk trash after one, ("wait until next time") then I AM getting concerned.

I'm on PSF's wavelength on this one. I don't really see a tight correlation between practice field shenanigans and gameplay. This is the NFL. Its not just about intensity. Thats one part of it. Preparation/discipline and confidence are even bigger musts. Did anyone watch any of that damned Eagles game? Yeah, yeah, its preseason and all that, but that is a team that has unbelievable faith in its system and the team concept. They firmly believe that if they do their personal tasks in a disciplined manner, the team will have success. That focus is what I want to see, not nonsense in the name of spirit.

Having said that, I'm just a big Jessie Armstead fan. I do like the take control attitude.

Yeah, I'm with you & PSF. Cooler heads prevail in games. And have a stable level of intensity without hyping each other up in fights.
Fights draw interest from the public but I don't think to much should be made out of them either way.

I agree with PSF also. We were hearing about the comraderie and we liked it. The coaches need to get control of the team. Save the aggressiveness for game day. We don't need our players hurting each other.

Bah I disagree with PSF just because :D
No really a little intesity is fine as long as it translates on the field

I don't mind a few practice fights so long as no one gets hurt. In truth, it is pretty difficult to hurt a football player because of all the armor they wear.
My guess is the players were wound pretty tight after being embarrassed by the Panthers. They had a lot of pent-up frustration and they wanted to air it out. I guess they did. Now, back to work.
