View Full Version : Ask an HR member (aka blah, blah, bliddy, blah)

From time to time i have often wanted to ask a HR member a question, i thought it might make a good thread so here goes. The idea is that you ask a member a question any member and the question must be in good taste, and you have to give the reason you are asking the question.
for example i always wondered how RSF10 became a Braves fan, no reason he just seems like a DC guy to me and thouhgt he would go O's like most fans in the area. Braves are cool with me i'm was just wondering.

I'll let Kenny answer your question, but I always believed he rooted for the Braves because he grew up in Richmond, who has a farm team for the Braves. (Richmond Braves)
I could be wrong, though...

DJ is absolutely correct about the reasons that Kenny is a Braves fan. I give him crap about it everytime I see him. The Richmond Braves are the ATL AAA squad.
Now. The name Keino was given to me by my parents. It is my middle name, named after the Kenyan distance runner by the name of Kip Keino. He made history in the 1972 olympiad by winning the 3000 M Steeplechase, an event he had never participated in, but won at the age of 32.

I won some which prevented me from having to hit the ATM and that helped alot. So all in all, while I lost I didn't lose alot. I play roulette, blackjack and slots. I'm really getting into the multi-hand video poker machines though. I found a machine and was playing 3 hands at a time at poker (deuces wild)

For the record, I am a Braves supporter myself, having formerly lived in SC and Atlanta being the closest baseball market. I consider Bobby Cox and Joe Gibbs as two of the most masterful managers in their respective sport. It's gonna be a shame to see the 14 year record ended this year, but I still think the Braves will make the playoffs as the wildcard team this year.

Wow, thank you Keino, but I have to give the credit there to all of you guys. I can easily say that I didn't know or understand nearly as much about the Skins and pro football until I got to this site.

1. shally is really my nickname given to me by my mom since i was a little boy (or shal, which is what most of my friends and family actually call me)
2. i have been a redskin fan since since the mid 1950's when i first started attending games in griffith stadium. wives have come and gone. children have been raised. i have moved more times that i would have liked to.
the one constant in my life for about 50 years has been my unabiding love for the redskins. now in the katrina induced diaspora of washington state
seriously, my knowledge of the redskin lore was probably better 10-15 years ago as i forget some facts and need prompting on others.. as you can tell, i love a good story about the old redskin teams and feel honored to have gotten to see many of the older players play..if not live, at least on TV

1. shally is really my nickname given to me by my mom since i was a little boy (or shal, which is what most of my friends and family actually call me)
2. i have been a redskin fan since since the mid 1950's when i first started attending games in griffith stadium. wives have come and gone. children have been raised. i have moved more times that i would have liked to.
the one constant in my life for about 50 years has been my unabiding love for the redskins. now in the katrina induced diaspora of washington state
seriously, my knowledge of the redskin lore was probably better 10-15 years ago as i forget some facts and need prompting on others.. as you can tell, i love a good story about the old redskin teams and feel honored to have gotten to see many of the older players play..if not live, at least on TV

our house was damaged by wind and water, but not by flooding so it survived. my wife spent this past week cleaning the house of mold from top to bottom, by hand, so that we can sell it and move on with our lives.
my oldest daughter still lives there. my second daughter moved to atlanta with her husband. we moved to abbeville, La for 2 months before deciding that new orleans was not a realistic place for us and we moved to washington state.
it took us about a week to drive with a u haul trailer containing our most precious possessions and our 2 younger children, plus 3 cats. it looked like something out of the dust bowl.
we have started over here and literally have gotten down on our knees to thank this place for an opportunity to re start our lives again.

my first girlfriend [my wife was my second girlfriend] had a family of 13, and this was back in the late 80s when I was dating her. It's been so long that I forget which of the 13 she was, I think she was the second youngest. Thankfully some of her siblings had already left the home, but the home was still crowded when I was dating her [I think they still had 8 living in the house at the time]
and for the record, my wife gets lucky around Christmastime, her birthday is early Jan so she gets Christmas present to be followed by her b'day present.

I can answer this one. My biggest distraction is my kids during the summer. That and hR of course ;). I have a routine but it has to be flexible as I am interrupted frequently. I get a majority of my work done early in the morning and late at night. I don't have much time for TV or videogames.

Question for Anyone who works from home:
Do you keep a routine schedule during the day? How do you keep from getting distracted by TV/RAdio/Playstation...etc. Any advice for a guy who will begin working from home at the end of the month?
Well, I have sort of the opposite problem. I moved two weeks ago to an apartment 5 minutes walking distance to my office...the problem: I barely leave the office anymore. I go home and I'm distracted by things I have to do at work so I just come back in.

LOL! The lease is up 7/29 and I am planning to turn it in and not have a vehicle payment. I am a hypocrite if I grumble about gas but don't cut my usage... That said, I know Chysler has really dropped prices so I am tempted to at least talk. My wife is pestering me to also look at the Honda Pilot, which I love, but find to be expensive (with the options I want). I am at an age where I just don't want to pay as much for a vehicle and I never have been one to care for expensive cars. I'm a Jeep guy and I'll have another Wrangler if they can lower the payment a lot to compensate for the increased cost of gas.
