I was just sitting here thinking about our linebackers and about how good they are now and how good they have the potential to be.

A good measuring stick for LB's in the NFL is the Baltimore group of Peter Boulware, Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs. They are about as good as they come and have been together for a while.

Our group of Arrington, Trotter and Armstead could be just as good as the Ravs group or could they?
Where do our guys rank or rate in comparrison to those dudes in Baltimore.

Ravens, Steelers, Bucs and Broncos are all better until our guys play up to potential. Right now our LB's have been outplayed by the 4 units above. The fact that those 4 teams had a strong D-line last season is no coincidence.

Suggs has not been there long. Wasn't he just drafted? However, I agree that they have the potential to be great, but it has to happen soon because Armstead is not getting any younger.

Arrington is the only linebacker good enough to start on the Ravens right now. Armstead is steady and smart, but no longer an elite playmaker. Trotter needs to get back to the form he showed in Philly. If he does, then we're in the same neighborhood as Baltimore.

When playing to their potential I could see the redskins lb's being the 2nd best in the league easily. No way are they equal to the group of Ed Hartwell, Ray Lewis, Peter Boulware, and Terrell Suggs. I don't remember seeing a lb corp as good as that one (if suggs pans out like I think he will)

Yeah Boulware and Lewis are top of the line.
It would be good to see LaVar and Trotter get to that level.

its kind of hard to compare our 3 linebackers to their 4. so, im going to limit it to suggs, boulware, and lewis. i would take lewis over trotter, arrington over suggs/boulware, boulware over armstead, armstead over suggs. it might take a year or two for suggs to adjust to being a linebacker. our 3 linebackers have been to probowls, to just 2 of the ravens(i believe boulware has been to atleast one). personally, i like our linebackers better.

Arrington's a beast, but he's the only one of our three I'd take over the equivilent Ravens.

Arrington has to learn not to over run the plays. Trotter has to prove he can return to form. Then and only then, we'll talk.

If our guys can get used to one system then I think they can achieve alot. Arrington has had that opportunity until now. I hope he reaks havoc this season. I know I probably spelled 'reaks' wrong but you get my point.

Why do you say that. Maybe I have been sleep or something but I have not seen that beastality yet.
Hopefully it will show this season.

On paper ? Football is not played on paper.. We are not in the top 5

Arrington had over 100 tackles last year and led all NFL linebackers in sacks. Whatever flaws he has, Lavar is one of the best linebackers in the league.

Individually Lewis stands alone. He is by far the best LB in the NFL. Boulware a very good and one of the top 10 in the NFL. Suggs is unproven and IMO will have a very hard time with that position for a few years. On our side, LA elevated his game and has to be considered as one of the top 3 LB in the league. Totter is another top 10 LB. Armstead, his experience gives him the edge. Include the backups and IMO, the Redskins LB core is slightly ahead of Baltimore ........ BUT without a solid D-Line will NOT have as successful year. Bottomline, tough to compare.

Uggh I am tired of the word potential being used in the same sentence with Skins players. :(

I'm actually surprised that no one mention Pittsburgh's linebackers (as much as I hate to admit it) as the best. With Joey Porter, Jason Gildon, Kendrell Bell and James Farrior......to me, they are the best (tied with Baltimore). The Skins' LB's are definitely in the top 5, but a shade below the very best.

The Steelers do have some great LB's.
