~ ~ ~ 'SKINS FREE-AGENT PICKUPS STRUGGLING
Folks around the league are getting a laugh out of the performance to date of many of the heralded free-agent acquisitions in Washington.
Kicker Jon Hall is injured, guard Randy Thomas has looked mediocre-to-bad. Defensive tackle Brandon Noble is getting blown off the line. And defensive tackle Jermaine Haley is "uninspired," per a league source.
Naturally, the 'Skins invited scrutiny of their new players via their high-profile efforts to sign talent from other teams. We reported at one point in the offseason that owner Dan Snyderbrenner would, if he could, stack his roster by buying up all the available players, a la the New York Yankees.
Hey, Dan -- the Yankees sign guys who can actually play.

I had not heard that about Haley, Noble, or Thomas. These "insiders" must know a lot more than I know and a lot more than The Washington Post is reporting. And all this after just one preseason game. I'm tempted to doubt the objectivity of people who refer to The Little General as Synderbrenner. I'm not fond of the owner, but that seems like a cheap shot to me. [Steinbrenner might also think it a cheap shot.] I hope these "insiders" will unmask themselves if the Redskins win on Saturday night.

"Insiders" = washed up wannabe sports journalists scuffling around the perimeter of training camps scraping together unfounded rumors and passing them off as news.

Insider [definition]
Okay so there's this bitch in heat, and all the big dogs have her surrounded, jockeying with each other to mate.
Then there's this little runt of a dog scurrying around the perimeter of big dogs trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. THAT's your insider!

They got all that from 10 snaps for Randy Thomas?
They make fun of Hall being hurt but don't give us credit for not signing Gardner who looks like he might be a bust in Denver.

That's right, screw all of the haters who are jealous cause we completely turned the NFL free agency and draft on its ear by showing how it should really be done. Everyone wants us to fail so they can feel better about themselves.

By all accounts, Laveranues Coles is having a great training camp and caught a 48-yard pass against Carolina last Saturday. I wonder why the article didn't mention him.
Hmmm.

I like how the team can be judged in one pre-season game. I guess every team that lost there pre-season opener is in BIG trouble.

the thing that gets me is that spurrier even stated they were not planning for any one particular person during that game. he was trying to access the play of personell not how well they were doing against a team that had a game plan going into the game. please.....if we were planning as someone stated in another thread, we would have put 8 men in the box and had peete try to pass his way out of it. i'm just sick of all this skins hater propoganda. i cant wait till we make them eat crow. enuff said

I'm actually surprised they didn't mention Canidate dropping the check-down pass in the game, and then go on to make some wildly broad comment, like his hands being worse than Stephen Davis'.
