That does it everytime I see it. You know Frank Gifford and Al Michaels were so numb by the 4th and 5th TD, they sounded flat or didn't say anything at all.

Which is exactly why I prefer the Frank, Sonny, and Sam commentary, because the more we score, the more excited they get!

Just out of curiosity..was anyone here actually at the stadium that day? If so, he should know that from now on, he is my idol.

I wasn't there....but a little of topic...the day prior of the Superbowl, we arrived back in the states from Germany. We had no means of watching the game so my dad (god bless his Eagle loving heart) bought me a 10 dollar Black and White tv from the Ft. Belvoir thrift store. I spent HOURS trying to get reception...and used every possible contraption to make an antenna. Game was fuzzy....but I was able to watch it! Yeah....I cried during that game...I remember I was so happy.:)

I was pretty numb by the 2nd half, I still don't remember much of it.

I have some friends that went though. I was in Georgetown that night for the crazy partying afterward, for what that's worth.

This was my favorite DG play of all time:

I was at a party and about ten of us had huddled up on the floor, holding hands and praying during this play.

Man I remember the reverse angle shot of that and the guys in my unit's barracks, that wanted Minnesota to go, freaked when they saw MX (DG nickname by Monte Coleman) glide and get his mits on that pass at the last possible moment!

Yeah I was only 3 during that Super Bowl, but I watched the NFL Films video of that year (along with your last Super Bowl) literally daily as I was a little kid. I used to imitate Ricky Sanders during that game, running all over my house with a football. Great memories for me, thanks for that one Mike.

So do you see why I get so mad at the writers who leave Monk out of the HOF? Monk was not the only star, he shared his career with the likes of Clark and Sanders, who had steller careers of their own, as can be seen in this excellent piece of Redskins history!

Man, you guys are young!!!

I was in Rangoon, Burma during the game and had no TV coverage available. We had to huddle around an HF receiver to "hear" the game. It was the finest 4 hours I spent because I was only 1 of 3 Skins fans in a room full of Bronco's fans!!!

Great vid...

Exactly Gibbs point. If you notice on several occassions, coverages doubles and keys in zone were put on Monk, and why is that? :)

Thing is that 2nd quarter becomes even more special when you watch the first quarter before it. Otherwise you don't see just how everything was going the Broncos' way and how out of the blue Sanders' 80yd TD was...

I forgot what that sounded like with the announcers. It's different hearing it without "Hail to the Redskins" in the background.

What a great day that was. I remember sitting in the recliner, next to my dad, who is a Bears fan, when Williams hit Sanders in stride for the first touchdown. I jumped up out of the recliner as soon as he caught it and shouted, scaring the heck out of my dad in the process.

Your father is a Bears fan? Then what was the atmosphere like in your house exactly 3 weeks before the Super Bowl?

Believe it or not..... I missed this game.... My girlfriend (at the time) was auditioning for "Star Search" and I went with her for support. I caught the last part of the 4th quarter.

It took me a long time but I got that game on DVD from one of the hR members. I show it when ever I have a studio session. I just let it run and turn down the sound. People don't say much,.... they just watch. They wonder if it is a highlights film. lol I say "Naa, thats just "THE QUARTER" aka the best damn Quarter in NFL History baby!

OH they hate us so......

I love it!

As I recall he watched that game from his local watering hole, while I at the time was not 21 and watched it from the comfort of the living room.

He was more upset at the playoff game in 1986 as all Bears fans thought for sure that team was destined to repeat. In 1987 he was prepared for what could happen vis a vis 1986.

At any rate, he didn't say much when he got home.

WHAT? Inexcusable, especially since she is not your girlfriend anymore.....is she not your girl anymore because she was successful on Star Search?:devil2:
