In 5 fantasy leagues as a Manager.
1 college Pickem league
1 NFL pickem league w/spread
1 NFL pickem league w/o spread
I'll soon start a NFL Salary cap league, as soon as Yahoo launches it.

Currently, I'm in 11 different leagues. Only 2 are for money though, an NFL pick 'em and a fantasy football league. All the rest are bragging rights leagues through hR in various sports.

2 Fantasy Football Leagues (Neither are for $, but both are with extreme F.Fballers so the bragging rights are hefty, right Keino?)
1 NASCAR League
Doesn't seem like much, but I put in plenty of time every week into them during the season...

I'll do one pro football and i'm doing the college pickem with hR. I feel like i can/should devote my time to one team per sport. Right now i'm in a baseball league (not doing well) and I won my pro basketball league.

Im in 5 after cutting back from 8.
1 Dynasty League w/Salary Cap feature.THis one is cool because of the year round nature of it. The salary cap rules are interesting as well.
2 Keeper Leagues (Can keep 1 QB,RB, WR, K or DEF & 1 other usually a RB)
2 Re-Draft leagues

DJ and I are in one of my Keeper leagues together. He has a powerhouse team every year that has fallen short. Definately big time smack talking league. Ive been lucky enough to win the Chip once....with a Waiver wire QB as a testament to my shrewd GM skills. ;)

I've never done a keeper league and I'm wondering what you all do when someone(s) quit. How do you get someone new to come in when you have to tell them from the start, they can't have Tomlinson, Alexander, Manning, Harrison, etc.? Do you give them first pick or some other incentives?

As commish of that particular league, I've had to replace an Owner or Two every year. As I mentioned above, the rules are set up so that the max number of players that can be kept is 5. If a new owner comes in, he is taking control of a team that should have some Keeper Quality players on the roster. They take over with the understanding that they may be in a rebuild situation.
The way the draft works pretty much insures that rebuilding isn't a terribly long process. The order is determined by order of finish from the previous season, with the worst team getting the First pick and the Champion getting the last (In our case 12th). The kicker is the Draft doesn't snake until the 3rd round. In other words, the worst team has the first pick in both rounds 1 and 2. Because stacked teams had to drop quality players into the draft pool, a good draft can be the cause of a quick turnaround. Also, we allow trading of draft picks for players, so one can improve the quality of their keepers that way.
Because as DJ mentioned, there are extreme FFballers in this league, no team is absolutley horrible and the league is fairly balanced. Finding new owners is never a problem. In fact every year in July I get literally dozens of emails from people wanting to get into this particular league if a spot is open.

Dynasty is a great way to go , i really dig it. we pay one year inadvance that keeps people from folding most of the time.
Keino have you had your rookie draft yet?

We are still in the middle of our rookie draft. It usually starts in May, but for some reason this year we started in late July. This hosed me in a way (I have the 7th pick) because there are some guys I believe would've fallen to me that were picked in the top 5 had we picked immediately after the NFL Drafts as is our custom.
I grabbed Leinart with that pick after watching 5 RB's and Vernon Davis go in the first 6 picks.
Our cap is pretty interesting.
You have 60 Year salary cap. Say I sign Leinart to 3 years. Well he would be 3-2006. His contract would be up in 2009. If I cut him before 09, then I carry unused portion of the salary as dead weight (Effecting my total available cap). We can resign our own players when their contract becomes due, but they must be at the current contract term + 2. So in 09, using the above example, I would have to re-sign Leinart at 5 years. So we frequently have Salary Cap cuts. Players traded can have their salaries renegotiated by the new team, but never for less than what their current salary is. So, if I were to (Still using the above example) trade Leinart next year, the new team could then rengotiate/extend his contract at 3-2007 allowing him to own the player through 2010.
In Late august, we then have a free agent auction to fill out spots etc on the roster. We have a Max player limit of 22 players, and you must have 2 players (At minimum) at every position.
Currently, my roster has neither a Defense or Kickers, because I wasn't going to carry the ones I had for 4 year contracts. I can't afford to have 16 years of my 60 year cap devoted to Defenses and Kickers. So I dropped both and will use the auction to fill those needs.
Here is my Roster:
Culpepper, Daunte MIA QB - $5 2005
Johnson, Brad MIN QB - $3 2006 resign
Leinart, Matt ARI QB - $1 2005
Arrington, J.J. ARI RB - $3 2006 resign
Bell, Tatum DEN RB - $3 2005
Dunn, Warrick ATL RB - $3 2004
James, Edgerrin ARI RB - $5 2005
Rhodes, Dominic IND RB - $3 2005
Jackson, Darrell SEA WR - $4 2005
Jones, Matt JAC WR - $3 2006 resign
Jurevicius, Joe CLE WR - $3 2006 resign
Owens, Terrell DAL WR - $5 2003
Toomer, Amani NYG WR - $3 2004
Clark, Dallas IND TE - $2 2005
Cooley, Chris WAS TE - $2 2005
Additionally, I am carrying 1 year of Dead Weight for releasing Marcel Shipp. My plan is to bid $1 year on him in Auction and get him back for that low price or someone outbids me and they get him, and I get my Dead Salary back. The guys with "Resign" next to hteir names are guys I had a $1 year slaries last year.
I currently have $11 years of cap room for the auction. I will try to enter the season with $4 or $5 years of space, in case I need to make some emergency pick-up.
I know you didn't ask for all of that info, but it's an interesting set-up, and Im in a sharing mood ;)

wow, that is a good way to do it, like a real gm.
I our league you just keep them no salary, i have a problem you might be able to help me with we start 1qb 2rb 3wr 1te 1 def 1 k
my team looks like this
qb Brady, pennington
RB LT, Tiki, Perry, Taylor, Pittman
wr Holt, Ward,Brayant,McCardell,Jenkins,S.Parker
te Gonzo, Winslow
kVinateri
def ATL
i have the 9th pick in rookie draft (its 12 teams)
I like every thing but my depth at QB and My #3 WR, my problem is i do not know what to do with my 9 pick, i see the top 6 going just like yours, then i could take Vince Matt, or go with Chad Jackson
One other option is to move the pick for Rivers, im really torn as to what i should do, between Mcadrell, Bryant and Jenkins i should be ok at wr#3, so should i draft a QB or try and make a trade?

Whats the Free Agent Market looking like? For example, is John Kitna out there? Maybe grab Ramsey or Brady's back-up for insurance there as well.
I don't think picking at 9th you will have your choice at QB. I think you will get whoever is leftover from Cutler/Young/Leinart and frankly, I don't expect that any of those guys will see significant time this year....at least not any thing that you could rely on.
I would probably lean toward Chad Jackson and try to move Perry to Rudi's owner for a QB.
If you trade the pick for Rivers, I would try to package that and still get a pick out of it. Acquiring quality rookies is key in Dyansty leagues (Especially with no cap). Matt Jones was a second round acquisition for me last year and it looks like he may be getting alot of looks this year. We know he has the measurables.

im hoping perry leaves next year and gets a starting gig so im going to keep him. The team in the 7-8 spot are very strong at QB so that is why i thought one might fall, the ww does not have much no kitna or anyone else of value. I agree i would like to get another pick if i did move for rivers, i have a huge man crush on Rivers i think he is going to be really good.

Well by all means, thats what you should do. Rivers is young and is the starter for the forseable future in SD. He has a solid running game and any connection to Keenan is a plus for you.

I haven't asked the most important question in giving my opinions. What are the scoring rules? I assumed it was like mine, which probably gives equal weight to yardage and TD's.
Do you also hold pick 2.3? What does he have on his roster? McCallister seems attractive on the surface, but RB's making Edge/Terry Allen like recoveries from ACL injuries isn't the norm, and it is almost always a 2 year recovery period. Not to mention the Reggie Bush factor.
I'd look to unload Favre to a QB poor team and sell it as a short term solution, while possibly looking to build depth at WR in exchange, maybe for a solid but not spectacular vet like Eric Moulds or someone like that. I say that of course not knowing any of the teams (or the scoring rules).
