Jim molinaro may have a hard time makign the squad afterall. Apparently after a decent scrimmage he was carted off at practice today. Scheduled to get an MRI tomorrow. This is a throw away item on a subscription article so I can't give a link. If good that is bad for another 2nd day draft choice.

It's in the Redskins training camp blog, it happened in the late practice yesterday.

Not to sound insensitive but IR may save his job for a year.

It did for Manny last year...still he is injured early enough in camp to get an injury settlement I think

that's the first thing I thought, with Jasper's emergence and all we can only keep so many lineman ... especially one's that have yet to step up with several auditions

This actually happened on Monday, not today.

Honestly, if I were in his shoes, I'd rather be on IR than on the street. I never want to see anyone injured, but I think Molinaro could use more time to go after a backup role.

not sure that giving him more time is likely to change the overall outcome of things..

History is full of guys who can develop into solid vets given time and training. I'm not saying he is one, but there is no harm in stashing him on IR. Aside from the superstar minority (< 5% of the NFL), the difference in most of these guys is razor thin and for me it comes down to coachability and attitude. I'll take a team of marginal players with great heart over pampered superstars ANY day. I'm not saying Molinaro fits the bill, but again, no harm in stashing him on IR.

Molinaro getting injured in the overall scheme of things won't move the needle more than a hair (I hope I didn't upset anyone's sensibilities).

To me, the much bigger story is set forth at the bottom of the link. There is a piece titled "Taylor to Be Fined But Not Suspended Due to Assault Case". I wasn't able to access it. Does anyone know if this is already fact? When did the NFL announce this?

i have no issue with that.. i just think it becomes less likely he will make the jump to the nfl.. reminds me a little of derek G smith.. a 5th round pick that kept getting injuries and surgeries and finally called it a career before doing anything roster worthy.
i hope i am wrong on this one, but molinaro wasn't exactly stellar before he got hurt

He spent his first two years on several teams' taxi squards.

times were different then.. you could allow young players times to develop. because of short contracts and the cap teams do not have that luxury any more

I wasn't vey impressed with Molinaro on the weekend. He looked bad when compared to Jon Alston on the right side of the line.

Thanks for the info. Somehow, I missed the great news. The fines are heavy, but Taylor and the Redskins were nevertheless very fortunate.
