I have dubbed the Redskins' coaching staff the College of Cardinals, like that collection of elders that gets to pick the next pope. Maybe it doesn't perfectly fit all those ex-head coaches and either current or former coordinators on Joe Gibbs' staff in Washington, but it works for me.
If you're keeping score at home, Joe Bugel, Al Saunders and Gregg Williams all were once NFL head coaches, and Greg Blache, Jack Burns, Jerry Gray, Dale Lindsey and Don Breaux all have coordinator stints on their résumés. And from all indications, that wealth of experience is not a combustible mixture.
"There are no egos on this staff, and that's an unusual situation given that every guy around our offensive table has a Super Bowl ring or more,'' Saunders said. "But we really only have one agenda. At this stage in your career, there's only one thing you want to do, and that's win a world championship.''
Gotta love Al Saunders quote.
