Mandatory viewing for those born before Gibbs I.

Watch this clip and keep your eyes open for the players that shaped the teams of Gibbs' first tenure.
Educational for those that werent there, nostalgic for those of us that were.

I love when Butz gives the MVP to Jack Kent Cooke.

I watched it, and it brought tears to my eyes. I was a teenager when it happened and beating Dallas that time was an event. There was no internet then, or ESPN, so you'd have to listen to the radio, read the news papers etc. But the anticipation was so great that the out come was overwhelming. Many of the players (not so well known today) on that team are still my all-time favorites: Monty Coleman and Dave Buttz among them.

damn ! that felt good... if you told me that calvin muhammed had ever caught a TD pass against dallas, i would not have believed it.. must be the high water mark for him as a redskin..

you cannot believe how the city came together as one for those games.

OUTSTANDING!!!

Thank you, thank you. I was 9 when this all went down and I remember what DC was like that winter. After we won the Super Bowl my dad and my brother drove through downtown with one of those old school pennants honking the horn and screaming at everyone we saw.

I'll never forget these two brothas that were walking down the street as we pulled through. They stopped on the corner and raised up with their version of the Fun Bunch celebration. It was special....

I drove my coworkers nuts before (and after) both dallass games last year. I was playing that clip (made by our own WWD I believe) and the "We Want dallass" chant... Honestly I was pounding my fist on the desk to the chant. Iwant success for Gibbs and the Redskins so bad that there is nothing I wouldn't do for a Super Bowl win.

MAN ......... what a day that was ...... We honestly (me, my dad, and a close friend) drank so much beer that day - we were hung over till Superbowl. ........... Heck - we drank a case alone just bitching about the cheap shot that Niel O took. .................. Thanks for the memory!!!!

Good clip, however I think this has been posted before... Few weeks ago perhaps?

Yep, that should be mandatory viewing because it gives people some context when we talk about what RFK was like, or the city, the old days, you name it. And unlike tales about having to walk to school, barefoot, in 36" of snow that you tell your kids, this is documented...so nobody's memory is going on them or telling a tall tale. Just listen to the stadium. This town was absolutely crazy. What a memory.

Too bad they edited the part out where ole Jack was telling Phyllis about all of his "potent" friends. At least he didn't say he wanted to kiss her.....

Technically, I was born before Gibbs I but the only thing I can remember from that year is eating cat food. :)

Jeez, it must've been a great time to be a skins fan... just like now! But needing those glory days of the past probably makes these years so much better

My favorite part of that vid is when the crowd spontaneously starts the "We Want Dallass" chant right in the middle of Phyllis George interviewing The Squire.

Oooooh passion huh :) Yeah Butz was full of emotion and joy! That game floats with me still. I almost missed it because of CQ with additional duty downrange. One of the greatest NFC Championship games ever played!
