The Redskins invited 11 wide receivers to training camp this year. Why? Does Dan Snyder receive some sort of discount at 10 and over? Here is the full list, in alphabetical order:

Ataveus Cash

Mike Espy

Jimmy Farris

Steven Harris

Taylor Jacobs

Brandon Lloyd

Santana Moss

David Patten

Antwaan Randle El

Richard Smith

James Thrash

If at least four of those names [Cash, Espy, Harris, Smith] leave you scratching your head a bit, you’re probably not alone. The chances that any of those four unknowns will make the active roster is slim to none – and Slim is packing to leave town. So let’s consider what remains.

Good write up, but to answer whether or not I want Randle El or Sellers on the field, it would greatly depend on the play. I am actually a little worried about not spreading the ball around alot to make everyone happy. With Moss, Lloyd, Randle El, Cooley, and i'll even throw in Patten, that's an awful alot of people in the passing game, not to mention the running game with Portis. Saunders uses the FB quite a bit as well, and had Richardson in KC. With Sellers in the FB position, that's a valuable weapon. 6'3" and 250+? That's a huge FB, and Portis loves to run behind him.

Nice job, Spence. You make a very good case for the 3-wide being the base offense and I'm starting to believe the same. I do think we'll see different base formations on a weekly basis though, both to exploit each team's weaknesses and because of Saunders penchant for being unpredictable.

Espy had a pretty decent first week - at least got his name mention.
I have this feeling that ARE might be a reason to display Thrash and open up a spot for a "young" hopeful ................ BUT the odds of that happening are pretty great ...... but not impossible.

I think espy Smith and Harris are fightinfg for one maybe two PS spots.

Farris and Cash are fighting for the right to get the first call in case of a major injury.

Jacobs is fighting father time until Aug 27th.

4+ QBs in camp ... need WRs at the other end of training camp passes for a quick evaluation ... could that be the reason for so many WRs?

Besides ... cheap ... and might find a gem, perhaps Espy
