Saw on ESPN that Seau is expected to announce his retirement on Monday. Twelve Pro Bowls? That is quite an accomplishment. This guy was a great LB, and the article discusses his possibility for HOF. Any doubt he makes it?

so ELECTRIC to watch, he was an amazing LB and played Ironically similar to a Merriman type only he didnt have Merrimans size but he had better speed and range IMO.

Not so fast Abbernathy. From KFFL:

Patriots | Seau signing with team?
Thu, 17 Aug 2006 16:06:25 -0700

Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports retired LB Junior Seau is expected to fly to New England Thursday, Aug. 17, according to two league sources. If things go well with the New England Patriots, he could be signed by the end of the week. Seau is expected to play middle linebacker with the team.

Don't be like Sanders and drag it on and on Seau.

Is it just me or are the Pats starting to get a little desperate?

Didn't Teddy Brusci just go down with an injury?

Brusci's not going to be counted on like he was before. Seau offers an A. Pierce, Zach Thomas, L. Marshall mindset, though not the physical presence he once was. He can line people up correctly and adjust the D for a player to make a play. The NE Pats led by Belichick, with his eye for defense, can limit teams to lower scores, where he's the most dangerous and with Brady leading an offense, he will win far more than expected. Seau gives him a comfort zone, so that way having both Brusci, waning health or not, and Seau (wonderyears man) makes the defense smarter. We already know Belichick's defenses aren't soft. Banged up at times, yes, soft no.

Seau is annoying. He will be exponentially more annoying as a Patriot since they can't fart without it being national news. I can't wait for the nationally televised game where they spend the whole game talking about Seau. :banghead:

Which suggests, the two parties (NE and Seau) were already in agreement, but you won't find it on paper or electronically.

RedskinsDave and BWParker,

I agree with that, Seau is annoying in the press, always got too much of it, even though I think they'll get some avg use from him, its alignment mainly for the defense, since a few folks he knew it like the back of their hand are gone.

I always felt SD suffered because of him, more than they made the most of each player. The payout to him also kept them from getting what they needed in SD. In Miami he wasn't good enough to carry them, when Zach Thomas went down too.

So he's mainly just a body in the way, with a bit of player coaching.

well if he goes to the patriots, he can't have another press conference....1 press conference per player.

:lol1:

indeed... but with bruschi hurt, junior may fill an important need for the pats.. i think they will find a way to use what he has left, whatever that is..
it is a good fit for both parties..
