Nice read BNG!
I think there is a huge difference between confident and cocky. I am confident the Skins are good enough to win the SB, but still scared to death of the unknown. I would never be so cocksure as to assume the trophy is all but a foregone conclusion.

Exactly how I feel too Smoak! I'm confident in the abilities of our team, but in no way cocky. This team has faced some very tough things already, but I truly believe that it will only bring this team closer together & make us stronger. Only time will tell, but I must say that I'm still confident as hell!
By the way BNG, that was a very good read! :awesomewo

great write up BnG. The Sports Gods don't like gloaters is the truth. Long way to go and we have yet to win a pre-season game let alone one that counts.

Great job, BNG!
It's on now, anymore injuries and I am bringing the clippers to the tailgate. Heads, backs, chests, you name it, they're getting shaved. :D

We need to revisit the Nads conversation.
that isn't as bad as it sounds.

Exactly. They're already bitter little deities, but talk about making a run for anything just pisses them off even more, lol.

I'm serious when I say that I don't take Cooley's transition to TE or success in our first year in a new offense as a forgone conclusion -- even if Al Saunders is our OC. It takes time to get good in a new system.

Good read, but a bit hard to read for my tired old eyes. I had to give up about the sixth paragraph, with my glasses on. Then all I could do was skim it for tidbits.
How bout a simple, basic Times New Roman or even a basic Arial?
Or not!

LOL, I actualy had bulleted points in the original. I think something got lost on the formatting into the blog. Sorry about that. :)

I would argue that playing H-Back was more difficult. At H-back, you have to know the blocking assignments, receiver routes, motions, audibles and biltz pick-ups. Basically, everything that the QB has to know.
Now at TE, it's half of that, though he will be motioning just as much. I do think Saunders will take advantage of Cooley's prowess in knowing all the in's and out's and use him accordingly. There will be plays where Cooley will line up in the backfield, the slot, wide, he could even be lined up as the one-back and get a carry.
I think Cooley will be just fine in his new role and the transition will be seamless.

I agree that H-Back is harder. It's two, two, two roles in one. But, at H-Back, since it's an odd role that most defenses don't account for very well, you get matchups in the passing game that favor the H-Back. Cooley excelled at that. However, he is ostensibly going to be a TE now. Those line him up across from different people and every modern defense is set up to account for the TE.
So, the question is still open as to whether Cooley can be as dominant as a TE as he was as an H-Back. Some folks think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be. I'm not convinced.

Just understand, we can't judge this solely on stats. Cooley set a Redskins record for receptions in a season by a TE (I know, he was an H-Back but he was considered a TE for the sake of the record book and rightfully so.)
My point is, we were without any receiving threats for most of the season other than Moss, so Cooley caught an inordinate amount of balls. He was Brunells go-to on 3rd downs, especially.
Now, we have a full set of talented receivers and a playcaller that will change things up every week.
Cooley's receptions likely will go down, I'm thinking 40-50 but his yards per, will go up(from 10 to 13). His TD's will be the same(6-7).

I understand his numbers will go down, but it will be readily apparent by Week 3 or 4 if Cooley is able to win those matchups. That's what I'm talking about. If he can't, God forbid, then that will impact our season.
