I know a lot of you are like me, having to watch the game rebroadcasted by NFL Network. I thought it might ease the pain for those of you tuning in if we could have a real-time thread to share.

I'll be trying to find some positives or at least pinpoint specific areas that are not as strong as they could be.

Come join me.

Me too! My wife just came home from watching an Ashlee Simpson concert (she's a rock journalist, this wasn't her choice) and we were comparing who took the worst of it.

She wondered if I was still going to watch tomorrow. You better believe it. For better or worse applies to Redskins football as much as it does marriage.

Ashlee Simpson. Whoa. Tough call there!

We're watching Pink Floyd live on PBS to recover -- both of us. She says Simpson was off the charts awful. We're both wondering why teenage girls scream at a so-called hottie. Menudo or Duran Duran I get. But -- oh, nevermind.

You'd think an ex-girl would have all the answers. She says she loved U2 and the Clash from puberty on, and disavows kiddie cults.

Now as for the game... LOL

Don't want to turn this into a Frost thread lol.

That's what I think too. I am consistently flabberghasted when one of two things happen:

1) Frost comes out onto the field when Lonie is the one we should be looking at, or
2) Collins comes out onto the field when Campbell is the one we should be looking at

Bums, both of them. Anyway, enjoy the game, lol.

That would've been a great show at the Bowl. I don't recall if they came to the Capital Centre or RFK in DC. It was 20 years ago and I was probably only moderately coherent anyway, lol.

Both happened tonight. Lonie started and started well, then semi-shanked one and out trotted Frost. Who promptly booted pooch kicks and pooched punts.

Campbell played late and honestly seemed the one bit of good news, if you don't count Ade Jimoh, the stud.

What a whacky world.

Because Lonie turned around and whaled a 30 yarder. We have zero consistency with special teams.

I think Frost is receiving the benefit of the incumbent's nod. Coaches are going out of their way to let him win the battle. He just seems to go the extra mile to lose it.

Maybe if he had those shoes, he wouldn't shank so many kicks. If he would only visualize the goal line wherever he punts, he's sure to nail 60 yarders every time.

he did have one at 50 yards but his next 2 werent very good.

Slobberknocker
08-27-2006, 11:14 AM
Part of the problem was a total lack of pass rush. Having Griff and Daniels out hurt tremendously. No rush leads to the blitz, and Brady is too smart.

A bad combination.

Im not sure if it was our secondary that was getting torched it seemed more like the middle of the field was wide open. So where were the LB who were supposed to cover their TEs?

Yes our secondary gave up some plays but not as much as our LB did.

I was just worried that Mark really did look "washed up" as rumors may have suggested. I don't think that's the case. We need CP badly and Lloyd needs to step up and be our #2 that we got him for.

Watson is abusing us on this drive. I'll tell you Tom Brady is a helluva qb (maybe the best) but he never is pressured. I swear I never see this guy get heat including us. We're blitzing few and far between showing nothing. NE's oline has been spectacular basically this entire decade.

then its clear. Our defense is mean enough to give JC the acid test behind closed doors, and that's why he looked sooo much better than Collins.

Also, Lonie's not apt to get as much looks, if he's actually favored. Its the other person that should have to consistently prove they are better. Not a 42 yarder here and 31 yarder (at a crucial juncture of the game and plenty of room to punt. Let alone dropping a few inside the 20).

So this could spell the meaning of it, if its not just to be left all in a preseason game. I just see a new approach to THIS preseason, as well was the OTA's and TC, that's all.

Rumph and Jimoh seem like the better coverage guys. I'd use them before resorting to Wright.

We're looking like this is still a scrimmage -- lingering after effects of a late training camp or shell shock from losing Portis?

The first preseason game had pizzaz until Clinton went down (admittedly, that was early). I haven't seen the same gusto since.

Our punting is atrocious.

Exactly. If Espy took heat for the drops last week, Lloyd would be on the bubble for his performance tonight.

I have the feeling he's the kind of guy who brings his A game when the games start to count.

So, here's another one. From my understanding the First OL unit wasn't so hot last night, so maybe Betts was using his First Right of Refusal, to survive.
