View Full Version : I Should Have Fun With This....

Alright, well, in the past few months that I've been here, I've kept a relative shroud of secrecy about myself. No address, no picture, no meetings at training camp, not even an age. That last part is what I've been wondering about. I've seen a few comments here lately that have made me chuckle a bit, so I figured I'd put this out there and see what kind of responses come back.

How old would you all guess I am? Just put a number out there, whatever you think, I'm curious. I'll probably get a few kicks out of it, and the first person to guess right will get.... I dunno, a donut, or something like that.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, and nope. Your low end wasn't low enough, DJ.

And I was right, I am getting a kick out of this.

Lord Joe, I've got a daughter that's 17, you are now officially making me feel very old.

I guess 16...

Hey, Gibbs Girl got it, very nice. Your complimentary donut will be coming in the mail sometime soon. ;)

I've been getting a nice laugh lately when I've seen posts like "Oh, well he's only 15, that explains it" or "We've got a few youngin's on the board, just so you know." Figured I'd see how old everyone thought I was, and it was pretty entertaining, I have to say. :D

Oh, and Gibbs Girl, don't worry, anyone who manages to figure out things like how to turn a computer on and that doing something like clicking on AOL will make AOL start up (it's a real shocker to some people) can't possibly seem all that old. You've still got some youth in ya. ;)

Guess this means I could put a pic in that picture thread now.... Maybe. Hmmm.

Joe, my, my, my.......I would have never guessed! Like Tex said earlier, your writing is out of this world. I had no idea you were that young.

You should seriously think about writing for a living.

And I hadn't really thought about it but you have been awfully secretive about yourself. Thanks for opening up and sharing a little info about yourself.....

JoeDaSchmoe

I'd really like to write for a living. I'm hoping to go to a school with a good journalism program and major in that. If I could snag a job with ESPN or Sports Illustrated I'd be ridiculously happy.

Heh, I've been relatively secretive, I suppose. I should get a pic of myself in that thread to add it to the hR collection.

We need a Redskins fan working for ESPN! I'm tired of them dissing our team year in and year out.....

Good luck you Joe in what ever you decide to do in the future.

Heh, well thanks Mike. If it were up to me I'd be playing for the Skins in the future, but I'm having a hard enough time getting through high school football training camp alive. ;)

What position do you play? I was always too small to play football. At least that whay my mother said. I got to play in the 7th grade. Not the best of experiences. Back then, in the early '80s, I went to Jr. High School. They didn't have middle school back then. Or atleast not where I grew up.

Anyways, we had 9th graders on our team. Very big 9th graders at that. They would do some F'ed up crap to us.....like put deoderant in our mouth peices. lol I can look back now and laugh it off. But at that time it was very hard to deal with.

Heck, only 5'8" and around 160 pounds. Baseball was my sport. Only to realize that I wasn't tall enough for that sport either.....after high school they wanted guys more around 6 foot tall. And I'm not the fastest guy on earth either......just wasn't meant to be......

Split end and DB. I'm getting beat out right now though, I just switched schools and I'm trying to learn two new systems at once. Not all that great. Not to mention the fact that here we run a damn Wing-T offense, which definitely focuses on the run. Ugh.

Soudns like you were about the same size our fullback is, ever try for that?

CarMike
08-16-2003, 04:58 PM
Well Joe, the problem there is that when I was 12 or 13, I was only 4' something and not even 100 pounds. LOLOL Not to many guys play FB at that size either.......lol

How does it feel to have to go thru what the Redskins have had to go thru learning new systems for the past 4 years?

Good luck and I hope you tie down a starting pos.

Ahh...The good ole "Wing T" offense...mastered by University of Delaware coach Tubby Raymond for over 4 decades!

Its funny...Spurrier even admitted that his son's school employs the Wing T...

Joe,
You little charmer!
And you're right, I still might have one or two good years left in me.

As the other guys have said, when I read your "column" I was very impressed with your writing skills as well.
The other forums that I post on are all writing forums, you impressed me a great deal.
I hope your family is proud of you!
Don't worry we will treat you no different because of your age. Well, maybe a little bit!! http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/otn/other/11baby.gif

The wing - T is the best offensive system for small school football programs to be successful. Bar None.

CarMike
08-18-2003, 05:47 AM
yeah, the wing-T is a good offense to run at small schools. Just like the Princeton basketball team runs the "back door cuts" and seem to upset a top 10 basketball team every year or two.

Just goes to show, if you believe in something, and you are able to get your teammates to believe it too, you'll be a winner.

Wow JDS, I had no idea man. You have to follow the writing thing. I would love to be able to write but I can't. I may have to start photography so I can atleast find something I can do with sports.

I would have put you in the 32 club that seems to have a lot of members here

No kidding. Today in practice another kid caught a ball in the corner of the end zone and got his foot down just before he fell out of bounds. The coach said, "Now there's something we didn't do at all last year," and another kid shouted, "What, throw for a touchdown?"

Hey 57, if you get into photography, I could be ESPN's Redskins beat reporter while you take all the photos for the stories. Sound good to you?
