35-18 bashing of #9 Cals. Vo;ls are back. Cutliff is back. Ainge 4 TD passes, Meachem 182 yards receiving 2 TDS!!!!!!!
Just kind of stunned too at the wat Tenn defense played. Knew they woudl be qa strong part of the team, but they really dominated Cal today.

Congrats to the Vols! It seems the cloud from last year is a distant memory.
I was watching my Auburn Tigers, but checked out you guys during the commercials. Very good way to start the season. I wish I was in a sports bar with multiple TVs - there were so many great games tonight!

I am unsure about the Vols. I think Cal was EXTREMELY overrated. I would like to see what they do against a good team.

I cannot cheer or be happy for the school that produced Heath Shuler and Alvin Harper.
Besides, they will choke in the big game as they do every year.

i'm usually happy when a sec team smacks around som hypeified program from outside football-land, but cal is bogus. if ten had lost i'd have laughed for days, but for now, it seems fulmer spends a little more time in college football, before the inevitable return to his true calling, selling used cars to the genetically undiversified clientele that come wobbling forth from the wooded hills of tennessee.

Ainge looked very good. If he can continue this play then the Vols will be one of the best in the country.

ROCKY TOP.......ROCKY TOP.... Man did the Guys looks sweet against Cal. Im glad we got them early when they were ranked at 9 cause they like all Pac 10 Schools are Soft. I love the way the D played more then the O but we were solid on O for sure. I saw us drop like 3 ints though. Cutcliff has really gotten Ainge's head back straight he looked alot more comphortable and the Recievers looked Really good. I gotta say Fulmer has really been getting bashed lately and i wonder why he isnt getting credit for the Defenses play at least and for bringing in competent assistants like Cutcliff.
Pennskins. I was gonna start this thread sooner but the fellas are back from Iraq so i had to Tivo the game and hide myself from media sources until Golf and Drinking and Eating were through. Glad i Tivo'd though cause we BLEW EM OUT BABY.

Peyton started that trend.
It was a great win for UT. Home field and the cross country trip for Cal also helped:rolleyes:

how about them falcons? i've never been so content with a loss. my old coach deberry showed some cojones going for the win instead of a tie. honestly, we are not expecting much success this year at AF - which does not bode well for Tenn.

LOL i thought this was sarcastic but i didnt realize how sarcastic it was. I figured they beat AF pretty bad but i went and checked the score and saw that they won by 1 point on a failed miss 2 point conversion.
Even tho Ainge seemed to look good, the defense didnt. They have Florida next week so that will be a big test for them.

How is UNC doing?

It also looks like they lost two starting defenders for the season against Air Force.

Yup. DT Justin Harrell and CB Inky Johnson. Both injuries do not fare well for a postive season, especially Harrell. Teh SDL is already young and without Harrell, I just can't imagine them stopping anything. I guess we'll see what young guys are ready to step in and play.
Demetric Morley was one of the nations top CB recruits two years ago. Time for Morley to step up and in and show he can be a premier player. On the indide, they will likely move Turk McBride in, and look at either Xavier McDaniel or sophomore Demonte Bolden at End. Either way, the Vols defense is crippled, unless an unexpected huge step up occurs.

(Here's what I heard about Johnson's injury today on my local sports radio station, when a Tennessee-based sports talk personality called the show.)
Inky Johnson's injury is very serious. He suffered blood vessel and nerve damage to his right shoulder area and has trouble moving his arm. He's still in the hospital, there was even some concern that he might lose his arm. This news came as a shock to the host of my Alabama-based sports talk show. I think Vol fans who want more details should refer to Tenn. fan websites and newspapers for updates. Inky might never play football again.

Hey, i'm not the one that bragged on my team when they beat a overrated team. ;)
Even after our 2005 basketball National Championship I didn't brag...I think. lol

I would hardly call that a choke job...Florida was ranked very high and we played them to the wire again. I was very dissapointed in our run game and run D you can tell they still have some issues but Rocky Top is still a team to reckon with this year.

Tough loss for the Vols. Can't believe they blew it in the fourth qtr. in front of 100,000 fans. On the bright side, the stadium looks much, much better with the grass than it did with that awful astro turf.

Great game last night. Florida has been looking like world beaters lately and they are our only close lost. We put up 50 on a georgia team with a great D. Gotta be top 10 after this win. ROCKY TOP...ROCKY TOP

That was a pretty good game until Georgia imploded. The Bulldogs' secondary got exposed big time and their tackling was horrendous. Give the Vols OL credit though, they kept the vaunted Georgia DL off of the Tennessee QB most of the night and scored at will in the second half.
i'm just upset that PSF didn't answer akh, Dorsey or me when we called...

I expect a really good game today with Alabama coming to Knoxville. Will be on CBS. I think Bama can keep up with anyone before imploding during the fourth quarter. Vols 31 - Tide 21.

7 point win is a smacking around? And we handed you that game with the 2 early picks and the missed pick in the end zone which you caught for the TD. One of those plays goes the other way and its a much different game.

7 points isnt a true smacking but it still counts. Bottom line is i heard the rocky top anthem loud and clear down in cock land. By the way AKH what are they doing to Rice that guy should be an all american but he has done very little? either way the vols missed alot of opportunitys so im not gonna talk about what could have happened differently.

And we heard 2001 in Knoxville last year. You're the #8 team in the country, we're in the mid 30s. You should have beaten us.

Well, last night it had to do with y'all mugging him most of the time. He's had some good games this year, but defenses are triple teaming him and McKinney and West are open most of the time. McKinney torched y'all last night.

What? You were handed 3 gifts on the first three drives.

I understand it must be difficult to deal with TN being good again but there is no need to deny what happened on saturday J/k. Im not gonna debate the game with you AKH its over and we got a game against a real tough team coming up. I like your QB though i only hope he dosent fight to be a Wr he could be real good at QB for USC.
