xtra sports 690/1150 has reported that the Skins have reopened trade talks with New Orleans about DT Grady Jackson. Washington is reported to be offering RB Ladell Betts and and a low round pick.
It could happen...

Don't think I would want to give Betts and a pick for Jackson. Maybe Watson and a pick but giving up Betts means giving up a #2 pick and the low rounder. That seems a bit much.

i think betts adn a 7th round, thats it....we need to think bout bailey, i rather go this season go with what we got then the offseason get a DT(draft of FA) then resign BAILEY, that would be the smartest thing to do

Hmmm... What's the report on Jackson? Starter material, run-stuffer, etc?

He's been a Pro Bowl alternate for the last 3 seasons. He's dominant when his weight is down but that's his biggest problem!

i dont like the thought of giving up betts for Gravy Jackson. like lostin said, maybe watson but not betts.

Hmmm.... Well, if he's been a Pro Bowl alternate for three years and his biggest problem is, honestly, something we can't really complain about (more weight in the mdidle, that is), I'd go for it. I like Betts, I really do, but we have a logjam at RB and the opposite at DT. Rock or Watson can take goal-line carries if need be.

I'll do it for Watson and a pick....NO WAY we give up on our 2nd round pick last year...

I don't even wanna think about who was still on the board when we wasted a SECOND round pick on Betts. Not that I have anything against him but what the hell did they take him for if they're gonna trade after a season.

BC, it goes back to what R. Nay said. The Redskins don't draft for a need. They draft best available. I don't agree with it. If there was a OL or DL there, we should have taken what we needed at the time.
Betts really hasn't shown a lot since his arrival. I
I'm torn on this one though. And why in the heck would the Saints be interested in Betts? A backup RB for Deuce? It just doesn't make sence that thats who they want in a trade. I thought it would be a WR....

Actually, the Saints are set at WR with Horn, Stallworth and Pathon as their top three. On the flip side...they are known as one of the few teams around the NFL without a true backup for their stud RB. Betts or Watson could be beneficial over there..especially since either back would get plenty of down time to train and learn the NFL running game.

Yeah, the Saints definitely don't need a WR. Most teams in the NFL are jealous of what they've got there. A backup RB is worth their while, though.
Yea. Watson and a low pick (5th or 6th)

I'd pull the trigger on that right now if I could. We don't have a lot more time to wait for Ladell to heal before we make a decision on our RBs.

I think it all depends on how Sultan and Watson play tonight and next week. If Spurrs feels confident that those two can get the job done, and with Morton in the fold, I think that trade could be done. Anyone who watched the Saints play the Eagles last week saw how badly the Saints need someone to spell McAllister. Grady Jackson is a big fat SOB, just what the Skins need to hold onto some blockers.

We need to keep Watson. He just looks good and he really stepped up for us last season. He has been there in the trenches with us. I mean, he was S. Davis backup. The guy is impressive. It may not be fair but I don't know if Betts is really get the chance to impress. I still would like to see him, but if the trade is there we need to make it happen. We need to keep Champs money safe too.
How would losing Betts affect the cap?

Not really Arkcowboy...the guy was lazy slacker..we need someone freash and with heart. Hell even Parcells who loves big guys passed on him.

ABSOLUTELY/END OF ARGUMENT
It's incredible the delusion about Betts (it's almost as bad as the cowboys & Hutch'). He was an aweful pick, who got outperformed by a freeagent FOR A 3 TIME ALT-PROBOWLER. I'd do it in a second & be shocked if they'd do it with less than a 5th pick (I'd do it with a 4, get me drunk first & I might even do it for a 3rd).
We're going to be cutting some RBs soon anyway as we don't even have room for all of them on the roster. Get value & keep some of the newer projects like Sultan McCullough.

My sentiments exactly. We have Rock and Johnson for short yardage situations, as proven last night. That is the only thing that I see that Betts has over Canidate/Watson/Morton.
Pull the trigger on this Dan.

I would go along with this deal as well. I think Trung, Watson can handle our running game and as already mentioned, the fullbacks can handle the goal line situations too.

Excellent point!!! I agree 100%. Great observation.
Salary cap implications mean a lot to me and if I'm not mistaken, Betts has a higher cap number than Watson does and the two RB's are about even IMO. Whatever we do, as long as we can re-sign Bailey (and Arrington), then I'm for it.

How old is he, and what's his (salary) Cap number?

Wilk' was out soon anyway, next year or this year. And I think the next 2-4 years will be the go-for-it years. So I say get some one to build around, draft a DT in 1rst round next year. (I would have gone with DT-Rien Long this year and lived Sulfstead (sp?)

I can't believe what I'm hearing. People we have noooo DT's and we're crying about losing a 2nd round RB?! We're full of mediocre RB's besides the important thing is WE DON'T RUN ANYWAYS!! We do however have to stop the run and put pressure. If we get Grady J for Betts I'll set off Fireworks. Nothing is too much when Betts is included in this regard. Pull the trigger NOW!

IMO, I still think Betts and Watson are the best running backs on this team.... No knock on Canidate (who had a pretty, good game on Saturday), but I feel Watson and Betts has better vision and can bounce off and break tackles better than Canidate.... I sure would hate to lose either Betts or Watson.... I think Betts is the better back on the team, but he hasn't had a chance to showcase himself during this preseason.... I liked what I saw in Betts a season ago and thought he was "keeper." I sure hope the FO makes the "right" decision.... Whatever that may be.
