Star LB LaVar Arrington and coach Steve Spurrier, upset by Payne’s firing, each told the owner he was wrong. That takes some serious onions, and it says a lot about their character and the job Payne was doing for them to face off against their boss.
I'm glad the team leader and coach spoke up for this person. It does say a lot about both of their characters. ESPECIALLY Spurrier's character...which is typically questioned to be be less than decisive.

Something tells me that Snyder is going to ruin this team.
(Hope I don't get fired for saying that!)

Skinzaholic : that's what alot of folks said about steinbrenner.
the yankees have won how many world series since he bought the team ?
( yes, i know steinbrenner causes alot of problems/issues, etc.
i am NOT a steinbrenner fan.
however, i am a yankee fan.
i'm grateful for what king george has done to improve the yankees.
i remember how horrible they played BEFORE george bought them).

the difference between Snyder and Steinbrenner is that the latter has produce consistent winning at a high level. The Daniel has produced constant disappoint. I understand what you're saying Kelly, but thinking about The Daniel fires me up. Fire? aww crap...hopefully he doesn't get me too.

As a Redskins and Yankees fan I can tell you that the two are similar but it's still apples and oranges. Steinbrenner won his first few titles by taking a good team and filling in holes with free agents. He then spent years thinking he could just keep doing this again and failed. The best thing to happen to the Yankees was Steinbrenner being suspended in 1990 and Gene Michael taking over and building the farm system. Although football does not have a farm system, the equivalent is drafting your team. I have less of a problem with the offseason moves this year than in years past but they are still risky. If getting the guys they got makes it hard or prevents them from signing Bailey and Arrington to long deals then the moves are horrible.
Snyder apparently has zero concern about anyone other than himself and his family (example: the patch honoring his insignificant father). I don't care that the man gets his little rocks off canning people but he keeps bringing back the same losers he let go in the first place, such as Swanson and Cerrato. This is another similarity to Steinbrenner that is not a good one.
Maybe we can ask that Tagliabue trump up some reason to suspend Snyder and then we'll finally win.

Just how many Skins fans are also Yankee fans? (I'm a fan of both as well) Must be a thing for Megalomaniac owners...

Skinsfan, problem is they never seem to win at the same time.
My younger brother and two of my friends are also fans of both. I was raised in Washington by a Yankee fan and recruited one of my friends to like the teams I liked when he moved to the states in 1980 from England. The second friend is pure coincidence.

You hit the Yankee part on the head. Had george not been suspended we never would have had our latest dynasty. Stick & Buck brought the Yankees back from laughing stock to premier team and George has tried to ruin it the past few years by going back to the 80s philospohy of adding marquee names via FA.
Snyder is more like George of the 80s right now. He wants big names though at least this time he got younger names unlike the splurge in '00. I think you guys are set up to do well in the next few years, this year may not be the year but I expect by next year you guys will be very good. It could happen this year but w/ all the new faces it's going to take some time so you may not see a good team for a few weeks.
