Okay I just got finished looking at Dallas's first drive. I thought they would be decent but they looked like world beaters out there. And it looks like McNabb and the Iggles and Stalworth and sharp too. What a tough year this is gonna be.

The Eagles looked like wonderboys against the Texans, so I wouldn't be too worried just yet. On the other hand, Dallas has looked good offensively and against a good defense.

Dallas looks good, their O line is holding the Jags D just long enough and the boys D is forcing the Jags to play out of sync thus far.

Jax may not be a .500 ball club if they don't find an offensive idenity. I expected Philly to look good against Tex but I wasnt expecting Dallas to look this good against that Jag D. If Dallas had a better QB they would be lethal...lol.

Could it be the Jags miss Greg Jones blocking skills especially in the run game? I think he also got a lot of the short yardage carries, I'm not sure about his pass blocking skills but BL has been under intense pressure all day. Obviously it's more than just missing Greg Jones, arent they also missing a guy or two on D?
Ibleedburgundy

Greg Jones is a huge loss for the Jags. Cheap shot Roy Williams almost did the Jags a favor there with that hit on Leftwich.

they might be better with garrard... deceptive because BL was 5/6 until he missed the last 2 passes.. deceptive.. still only 1 run on that drive.. you will have trouble beating dallas if you can't run on them

Taylor is stubborn and somewhat hard headed. Also, so is the coach who has Taylor running up the gut so much. Should have a FB against a stout DL, and bring Taylor to positions all across the field.

Man, I know Parcells IS SECRETLY hoping that Bledsoe breaks a finger so he can get Romo in there. Hell, forget about their first drive - I dont think the Cowboy's offense looks any better than it did in our house last year when they got spanked.

I can see a TO implosion by week 7. That's a huge amount of games to take a pounding by DB, and he'll just lob the ball in TO's direction. TO will get tired of being set up for the huge hit, or it will just sail over his head or at his feet.

-Next week is going to be absolutely insane. If you're not pumped then please leave through the back door.
-Bledsoe is going to get an earful from Parcells.
-Dallasses will be calling for Romo all week.
-Parcells is mind-controlling the refs with his manbreasts.
-They paid $3 million to Vandy to start 0-1.
-They WILL be hungry for a win next week, but we should be too.
-Bledsoe was AWFUL. He threw interceptions at the wrong times.
-Skyler Green had some great returns, he really panned out to what the Cowboys thought he was going to be...oh wait....

I'm assuming nobody saw this because there would almost certainly be multiple comments about it.
Right before they were going to a commercial towards the end of the game they showed TO on the sideline yelling and screaming trying to fire everyone up I guess. The guy standing next to him looks at him, rolls his eyes, and makes an expression like "I can't believe this jerk is on my team. Practice with the rest of us and then you can yell at me."
You can not tell me that he is not disliked there.

Everyone ASSUMED that because Ware,Canty, and Spears were in thier second season, that they were to automatically get better and would simultaneously break out.
Everyone also assumed that Terrence Newman was this Bonified playmaking Corner because he didn't allow a TD in 2005.
and almost everyone also assumed that the new player personell would make up for the lack of creativity in the 3-4 scheme
Like i said in May, YES this defense has the potential to be stellar, but it takes GREAT defensive units YEARS to peak and be dominant group. Looks at the bucs, bears , and ravens for example. Those units weren't built overnight. These guys are still kids basically, but yes they have a load of talent, we just don't know when it will all come 2gether. It may be next week, it may be week 6, hell it may be wek 1 of the 2007 season. But it was unfair to the cowboys defense to assume that several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year players would gel together and become this revered unit this soon.

The worst thing about it was that the Jags' recievers were not good in any way. They ran the most unconvincing routes I've seen since earlier today when I watched the Lions play Seattle. The rookie FS was not good and expect another year of Keith Davis back there getting shot at. Also, for all the talk of how great their linebackers are, not a one of them can cover.

They're an up and down team. One week they'll look like they can beat anyone and the next they'll nearly get beat by the 49ers. Week 1 usually isn't a great indicator of what happens the rest of the season, but my confidence in the thought that they're massively overrated comes from the fact that all the problems they had last season re-appeared earlier today.

I'm getting my schadenfruede kicks this morning on the ranch and it looks like I've figured out Schmitty's Ranch screenname:
There are only 2 differences between our defense and Pittsburgh's":
1. Our defense has A LOT more talent. Not to bash Pittsburgh's defense, but Watkins, Newman, Henry, James, Ware, Ellis, Canty, and Spears would ALL start if they were in Pittsburgh (and I'm sure they'd find a place on the field for Roy Williams as well).
2. Pittsburgh's defense gets after people. You can't tell me Joey Porter is any better at terrorizing QBs than Demarcus Ware. Porter just doesn't have to wear a muzzle most of the game.

Ok i am here like a man and give my own thoughts.. bash away and hopefully homerism doesnt come out to much.
First i am a realist and can agree on most things. I think the media and some/most of us boys fans overated the D. We all know that we are very young on the defense side of the ball and that flashes here and there doesnt make everyone a ProBowler. You have to look at the percentages.
how many studs , good, average and poor players are on all defenses. Just like not all draft picks work out so therefore it has to apply to our team as well.
Acourse our OL wasnt addressed as much as was needed. Flozell seems to be not 100% and not sure if he will regain any form. He killed us on the passing plays.
I was expecting to give up 8 sacks or so, but to give up as few as did was a little little bright spot. Running game sucked but not sure how many people are running against henderson and stroud.
Penalties and penalties kills everyone but dang it got is the worst way. we arent that good enough to constantly over come then.

esmith, what's your take on the QB situation in Dallas? Do you honestly think Bledsoe could get benched if he keeps completing so many passes to the wrong team? And would Romo (who I couldn't recognize if he was sitting next to me right now) be any better?

Teams can run on the Jags. They were about middle of the pack last season in run defense and should have been vulnerable yesterday with Stroud, Hayward, and Peterson all injured.

d. Jacksonville's toughness. Jags stood toe to toe with a very physical Dallas team and won a heavyweight fight.
What game did PK watch? Dallas played great for 10 minutes then laid down. I didn't see a physical Dallas team or a heavyweight fight, well, maybe a heavyweight taking on a fly-weight, but no Ali-Frazier.

Sure i can give an isight or local opinion, i watched the game of course and wished i had TIVO or the option to go back ala coaches do.
Drew has his problems, but not to defend him but there are other issues that directly affected him. There were penalties at the wrong time that had plays called back.
DB missed a wide OPEN TO down the sidelines for an easy TD.
One was an ilegal pick by our rookie TE Fasano, trying to block b4 TO caught the ball. it negated about a 25 yard play. There was the PI call on Witten in the Endzone for a TD called back. 3rd and long and RW gets the roughing the passer call for a drive that turns into a TD. it might have been a FG instead.
Flozell said he was ready to go but you can tell that he wasnt. Gave up sacks and had DB hurried.
If our running game and OL doesnt improve it doesnt matter what QB is back there ROMO or not.
DB is a veteran that should be given the benefit of the doubt and one bad game should atleast give him 3-4 more chances.
It is different then Ramsey vs Brunell. Brunell was the cagey vet not the rookie. I know that there were some wanting Campbell to play last year over Brunell but Making a change just to make a change isnt worth it if other factors are involved.
i know it was a lost cause and crap time at the end but DB did hit glen on a 50 yarder and then TO for a score at the end. it was meaningless but not sure if Romo would have kept his composure to get the wasted TD.

There was the PI call on Witten in the Endzone for a TD called back. 3rd and long and RW gets the roughing the passer call for a drive that turns into a TD. it might have been a FG instead.
The illegal block on Fasano caused that play to happen. Without the block TO isn't nearly as open and even if he catches the ball it's nothing more than a 5 yard gain.
Flozell said he was ready to go but you can tell that he wasnt. Gave up sacks and had DB hurried.
This is not good for you guys. Spicer is not a good DE and Flozell shouldn't have had problems handling him.
This is a very different situation though. Brunell was injured, that's a fixable problem that all us Skins fans hope don't reoccur. Bledsoe has a mental problem that he hasn't fixed, and in fact has only gotten worse, over his long career. If he hasn't fixed the turnover problem, the inability to read defenses, the propensity to take sacks by now, it isn't something that will get better this year or next. If the Cowboys truly think they have a shot at a title then ride it out with Bledsoe and hope he doesn't mess up too bad, if not, go with Romo and see if he's the future because Bledsoe isn't a long term option.

bledsoe never was along term option. marginally longer than vinnie.. that is about it..
they should cut the cord and go with romo and find out if he is the real deal.. if he flames out, they will have a top 10 pick to use on a qb in the draft. if he produces then their qb situation is settled for years.. too bad parcells won't be around to see it
