I know its difficult to pick a MVP of a loss, but not everyone played terribly. Tell me who you think was the Most Valuable Player in a heartbreaking loss to the Vikings.

Demetric Evans: 2 Tackles | 1 Sack
Lemar Marshall: 13 Tackles (4 Assisted)
Santana Moss: 6 Touches | 97 Total Yards
Clinton Portis: 10 Carries | 39 Yards | 1 TD | 1 Gutsy performance

I'm gonna have to go with Moss for a couple of reasons: aside from ARE, he was the only true threat to score every time he got a chance to be dangerous. And because Portis was either too injured to get more carries or the playcalling did not help him.

Portis. We were a different team with him in, although it was limited.

MW kept the defense as steady as one man can do with performance on the field. Lemar for a close second. Portis, ARE, Moss, Frost's TD saving tackle and the O Line for not giving up a sack all have honors, but MW is my vote for MVP of Game #1 vs Minnesota.

I voted other. I thought Marcus Washington was our best player. He was the only guy who got pressure and as usual was always around the ball.

none of the above.. ARE.. i had to hold my breath every time he touches the ball.. he is the most exciting player we have had since joe washington..
i just love him and what he brings

incidentally, that has to be the quietest 13 tackle performance ever.. i had no idea that marshall had so many

I said Portis. He has the only one who could get into the endzone.

Portis was the most valuable, its just too bad he couldnt play the whole game. We would have won if he had.

maybe... he sure would have added an element to our redzone offense had he been in all game..and he looked 1 step away from breaking a couple of really long runs
we need to score more points for certain.

C'mon, Brad Johnson was the player of the game!!!

I was just watching the tape of the game....the play on first and goal where the Williams's burst through the line and forced a fumble cost us a TD. It was a pitch left to Portis, just like the first TD, but the exchange was botched due to the instant pressure up the middle. The blocks were set up though, and Portis definately would have turned the corner for a TD.

To me it was obvious the difference in the team with and without Portis. He's our swagger, our mojo, and we need him out there being his crazy self. Without him, our offense is pedestrian, even with the presence of Moss.

Marcus had another great game, so I understand a vote for him. He really is the man on D.

Antwaan Randle El. Several important receptions, and our punt return game actually looked... good.

ARE. Numbers don't look impressive, but he had some good returns and made some clutch catches.

Sean Taylor, Kept hitting and whacking after the constant pressure from the refs, most players get soft after the refs get on your back. If im GW I tell Taylor "Keep hitting"

I have to go with Marcus Washington. He was all over the field and made quite a few great plays in a losing effort. He could have used some help!

I was waiting for the Lady Poll!

Easy...Demetric Evans showed up and played real football. Kudos to Demetric and I hope this game woke GW up to the fact that Evans needs to be on the field more.

I picked Portis on guts alone. I saw him pick up a blitzing linebacker and was blown up. That had to hurt his shoulder like the dickens, but he kept playing.

I'm surprised Marshall had that many tackles. What a job by him.

Brunell for effeciently running the offense in the teams' first game using Saunders' schemes.

Portis for having the guts to play and make a difference. Our run game was non-existent till he came in.

ARE is a fabulous free agent signing. His energy invigorated the team after that punt return. BTW -- somebody want to tell me what Sean Taylor and Carlos Rogers are doing on the punt return team? Is that guts, desperation, or have they been there all along and I just missed it?

My surprise of the game was Golston. He made two tackles that I saw when the Vikings were gashing holes through the line. Those guys have massive O-linemen (tell me Hutchinson wasn't worth the dough), forcing our linebackers and safeties to tackle (the real reason Marshall's numbers are huge).

What -- nobody mentioned Frosty? Pinning them on their heels and that 50+ yarder and an actual touchback -- quite the night for the Shankman, though his coverage teams let him down a few times...

Yeah Frosty was icing on the cake on the stop of the runback. I did have him in my honorable mention group. I also agree no player is actually THE MVP, but Player of the Game, yeah. Still Lady, we know what ya' mean. :)

I am going to go out on a limb here and say ARE. Not because of his huge numbers or anything but from what I saw he is going to be the guy who gets the ball when we need a first. He made so many timely catches, something that we have lacked in years past. He will keep drives alive for us which will pay huge dividends down the road. He also brings an explosiveness to the game that we didn't have before. When he gets the ball he just works so hard. He loves to play. He gets my MVP mainly because this game showed me that he is going to be huge for us and he is worth the money. Did anyone else think that punt return with the two huge blocks was more than 14 yards? That's excitement folks.

I agree COMPLETELY with your first sentence...

About naming the best player, it's incredibly difficult to me... maybe Portis, maybe ARE, maybe Moss, maybe Washington... man... I hate how depressed and confused I feel after a loss.

I voted for Marshall. 13 tackles is insane, and he also covered the tight end downfield well.

I also think we should give some love to the big 6th rounder, Kedric Golston. He looked really good out there, and was always around teh ball. I think he's going to be huge for us this year.

No, I thin John Hall got his ball to the endzone... barely though.

I say nobody. Everyone needs to treat this trip into little d like it is the superbowl.

I think everytime we play Dallas it is like we're playing in the Superbowl. I actually want to say that this loss is good for us. It shows everyone we still have to work. And we get our underdog back. We now have everyone doubting us in the media which is how we got hot last year. The only difference is we have edge with 10 more games than we got it with last year. We will be fine because we have swagger.

Marshall was the unsung hero with 13 tackles.

Randle El was all over the place.

Portis held onto Sellers' jersey until Sellers took out 3 or 4 guys so that Portis could walk into the endzone untouched, which got the whole team fired up.

That reminded me of the Arizona game. That way Portis can stay on his feet even if he gets hit, that is such a cool play.

Moss get's my vote. With 87 total yards, he was 1/3 of our entire offense.

the mark of ANY great team, is the ability to overcome adversity.
Every, year, and I mean EVERY year, the opening games produce heartbreakers and shockers. But that is all. after the second game, the telling blows start taking effect. teams that got blown out are suddenly off of life support and doing well. Teams that did the blowing out are either on a roll all the way to playoffs or stumped just before qualifying, while still others are looking for their second or third win by game 12!!!!!!

So, we have a bump in the road right off and go maybe 3-1 or 4-2 before we begin what is really a more solidified team's journey. I can see that happening big time.

I am nowhere near that optimistic, but I see your point. I can't be a "silver lining" guy when we lose a home game in the NFC setting ourselves up for a division road game on a short week.

The Minnesota game hurts the Redskins very badly. This was one of those games where we should have won. And i'm afraid it'll come back to bite us in the butt.

I can see Chicago winning their division. And unless we win our division, we could be facing Minnesota for one of the wildcard berths. Since they won, they'll have the tiebreaker against the Redskins.

We can not keep losing games that we should win.

If I were coach Gibbs and Saunders, i'd be working my tail off on the redzone offense. We left 12 points off of the board by not getting the ball into the endzone. Same story as last year.

I'm going to give some love to ARE, mostly just because I wasn't expecting him to take as much of a roll in the offense as he did and I was impressed and pleasantly surpized.

Alot of players turned in solid performances, just not enough of them to pull out a win...

Portis should've been in there in the end when it counted. Betts only had one run the whole game. Everything else he got stuffed.
