View Full Version : Are the former Jets living up to their billing?

I think so....
I know its only preseason, but they have really made a difference so far.
1. Coles has caught every ball thrown his way...and has shown me that he DOES have big play talent...and awsome hands. I think Ramsey and him will connect for a big yardage play at least once or twice a game throughout the season. I can't even remember the last time we had a WR so talented. I'm starting to think he is worth every penny we gave him. He has 3 catches for 112 yards so far this preseason...and those came against top NFL cornerbacks. The sky's the limit for this guy.
2. Its hard to review a OG's performance so far...but I havn't seen Thomas do anything glaringly wrong. I think once the O-line gels, he should be a force.
3. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A KICKER WHO CAN MAKE FIELD GOALS! Hall was 2 for 2 last night and also kicked a successful PAT. (unlike Vinitieri) That was a performance us Skins fans haven't seen in a while...
4. Morton hasn't broke a kick yet...but he has looked good in his attempts. I know he dropped a catchable ball last night, but I think he will start producing more on draw plays.
So...what do you think of the JetSkins so far? I'm highly impressed.

I agree with you dj 110%.
I read somewhere this morning that Halls kickoff was part of the reason why the Pats score their first TD. Whats up with that? Was it short or just bad coverage teams?

I'd have to say I am impressed with them so far too. I say on ComCast last night how a reporter asked Coles if tonight was a step in the right direction and Coles said "NO". He said they still need to gel and work together on excecuting and hopefully that would improve over the next two games. I like Coles. Losing seems to make him feel very uncomfortable.
I wish the Jets would trade us a DT or something.:p

Well you guys do have an awesome reciever!!! I live in Mass so i got to see the game.i think the Skins (notice i didnt say jetskins)should use him more than they did.I know it is only Preseason and all but man he is the go to guy.
Wow Morton had some plays in the backfeild looked ok and some nice returns, wait till he breaks loose(very fast) .
Cant say enough about Randy he`s a great guard
Hall on the other hand,he can kick the distances but when it comes to the short range kicks hold your breath.:)
I am NOT one of those fans who whines about being robbed of players,,, i look at it this way if another company came along and offerd me more money i would say when can i start. Its the N.F.L.and its a buisness too.I know you all dont care but I`m not too worried about my JETS.

Morton did hurt us with that dropped pass last night, but all in all no complaints so far from the new additions.

If Ramsey can keep Coles on his feet with his passes, he would have several TD's this preaseason.

LOL...A buddy and I commented on that last night after Coles grabbed that bomb.
I said "Why does Coles always look off-balanced after catching the ball?"
He said "Because its a Ramsey thrown ball.
:D
They are still relatively new to each other's abilities...and once they get on track they could be a top tandem.

Yeah, right now Coles is making Ramsey look good by pulling those balls out of the air. Jacobs almost had a good snatch last night was well but the Pats challenged. If they Skins were smart, they should have lined up and ran a play. To me the Skins gave the Pats time to review it so they could challenge. Seems like we had sideline issues.

By the way, I watched Jacobs last night on alot of plays and he doesn't look like a rookie out there. Very smooth route runner.

Guys,
I think they are all living up to their billing.
About Hall, I think there is one little known fact that people are not realizing when it comes to last night. Now, granted, the reason some blame Hall is because while the kick was deep enough, it was more of a line drive and had very little hang time allowing the defenders to get down there.
But, there is a silver lining to this that people aren't mentioning.
You know that kickoff that the Patsies returned for a TD?
News flash: At MOST, only TWO of those 11 players on the field will be on the team come September 4th per our site's beat reporter John Keim. The reason that kick went for a TD, per Keim who talked to the ST's coach, is because of two things:
1) Leonard Stephens missed the tackle
2) Kevin Ware blew his lane
Now, unless we keep 3 or 4 TE's, neither of these guys makes the team as Flemester and Royal are #'s 1 and 2.

Yeah, they seem to be doing well so far. Thomas might be a bit suspect due to the O-line's poor play, and Morton hasn't really made his mark yet, but it's only been two preseason games.

Very good point....
Its not very hard to run a return to the house over our scrubs. Lets see them do it with our hard nosed vets on the field.

That's one of his few flaws. He always jumps to catch the ball even if it's a perfectly thrown pass. It really hurts his YAC. I didn't see the plays and it sounds like the throws were high but even on good balls he jumps for some reason.

i agree that they have all been very good investments thus far. especially coles, that guy just makes it down the field with ease. about hall kicking short...i think he squibed a few because he didnt want to aggravate his groin, just my opinion.

Once we start game planning for the opponents, I think Coles will start putting up huge numbers. He is an important player for us this year.

All the Jet aquisitions have had more positive than negitive. Coles / Ramsey have to start connecting for more than just 1 big play though. I like Morton, he's got a motor. Hall's not going to be a goat until he misses the point(s) that cost us a game.
