great stuff.. thank you so much for that.. very interesting that doc thinks there might be more thanone injury to CP.. never thought of that..
agree very much onhis take that minnesota played the way the skins should have with a physical run oriented attack. let us hope the coaches decide this is the way to go after dallas. finessing or trying to fool the dallas defense, i think, is not the way to go.. go right after them. punch them in the mouth, and then keep doing it. plus, that is the best way to take the crowd out of any dallas game.:sfight:

If Brunell is going to throw the deep ball the way that he did a year ago in Dallas, then we are going to be in good shape. Again, we haven't seen that yet from this offense.
This is the most frustrating part about our offense and play calling, both, this year and last year. Why we don't take more chances down field early in the game has long bugged me. Why wait till under 3 minutes left in the game to take chances?

It is hard to throw deep on a cover-2, especially if the QB doesn't have much time in the pocket. I have a feeling you'll see some deep balls this week against Dallass' defense, probably in the form of play-action.

They tried it once with the slant to EL but we should have seen more seam routes from the tight end IMO.

couldn't agree more Mike.
Rich, good point. But like Mike stated, there's other things we can do to still go deep. By going deep it opens up the running lanes as well. That's what gets me...

I think they need to do more slants in this offense to force the safeties up a little then beat them deep.
We threw 1 slant pass last game and if Randle El could have broke 1 tackle he was gone.

I really don't know why they didn't attack the middle more. They seemed content to work the sides, I thought they were just setting things up but they pretty much did the same thing throughout. Definitely agree about the seam routes with the TE. Using Cooley on outside screens was useless.

Thanks Kenny and thanks Doc. I really enjoyed the read. I liked his take on Williams and the defense. I agree that Springs being out really hampered our ability to throw blitzes at the Vikes. Always good to hear what Doc has to say.

Good read, always good to get his perspective. In the last paragraph did Doc mean to say defensive line and not offensive line?
Both teams had other issues going; whether or not T.O. was going to play, or what was up with Washington's offensive line. We need Carter to come up big with the pass rush, and the return of Renaldo Wynn should help a lot.

Good read, always good to get his perspective. In the last paragraph did Doc mean to say defensive line and not offensive line? No, he was talking about the fact that the o-line seemed to be having problems protecting Brunell during the preseason. The mention of Carter and Wynn was him moving on to another point.

that is the key--pressure.. if brunell is running for his life he is not going to be effective throwing the ball deep.

lloyd would seem to be ideal for the seam routes/skinny post.. in fact the highlight catch in the first preseason game was just that.

Thanks R10, great interview. I have the same feelings about Springs being very valuable to the defense and team in general. We need that bad boy so Williams can unleash the hounds.

Nice job,Kenny.
I like the fact that Doc doesn't pull any punches.
He calls 'em as he sees 'em and he's good at what he does. That's why he gets paid for doing it.

I thought that was an excellent interview. I found that tidbit on Hall interesting as well and I totally agree that his confidence is gone. He should be ready (and eager) to kick at all times. If he did indeed make a comment like that then a change needs to be made. However, there may not be any quality kickers out there left right now. Maybe we can trade Ladell Betts for Mike Nugent? (J/k!)
