Smoke?
Just wandering who here smokes and who doesn't.
Personally, I don't. Its never appealed to me. I was always into sports and the two don't go together.....

I started smoked at age 16...but quit cold-turkey 10 years later. That was over 2 and a half years ago...and I feel as if I can actually breathe again!

Wow, cold turkey, that must have been painful.
Never have, never will. No reason to.

No cigarettes, just Cigars.
To be technically correct, you smoke a cigar and burn a cigarette.

Actually...it was VERY painful. Painful to the point of shaking in bed while I slept. They say quitting smoking is just as hard as quitting crack. (I can't attest to that...but that is what I've heard)
But...life after Cigs has been awsome. I used to get bronchitis twice a year and head colds every week. Now I don't.
Believe it or not....things smell differently when you quit too, which is pretty cool.

dj, living with two parents who smoke I can tell people first hand that things smell diferently.
I never could tell that I smelled like cigs while I was growing up. Then I joined the service and move away from "Tobacco Road" and out to San Pedro, Cali. I'll never forget the first time I went home to visit my parents and the smell of their house. I couldn't believe how bad it smelled. To this day when I go visit them it still makes me sick to my stomach. I've tried to get my mom to quit but she's not haveing any part in that. My father quit some time ago. Pretty much like you. He said he had had enough. Never smoked again.....
Contgrats dj. A lot of people don't have the will power to quit. I'm glad you did.

I'm like Seebs. I don't smoke cigarettes, but I will partake in a cigar now and then.

Does smoke coming out your ears count?
I get very ill when I'm around cigarette smoke, despite rumors that one cannot be "allergic" to cigarette smoke. I usually get a sinus infection.
Cigarettes with menthol in them are particularly bad they make me shake and get faint.
Sometimes I have to leave a restaurant if too many people are smoking menthol cig.,
I can't ride in rental cars or stay in hotel rooms where a smoker has been, even if they haven't smoked!
Believe me it's not all in my head, I've reacted this way since I was a child. I spent my entire childhood constantly sick because of everyone around me smoking.
But, don't get me wrong, unless your smoking where your not suppose to, I will usually suffer in silence because I believe smokers have rights too.
(But!!!!! I love the new no smoking in restaurant rules, ~sorry~ but I think a smoker could wait an hour to light up so that others can enjoy their food)

My wife and mother in law are severe athsmatics. When they are near smoke, our day is done. Luckily we live in a town that smoking in restaurants are illegal.
So to answer the question, no I do not smoke cigarettes. I do occasionally smoke a cigar for the flavor (no inhalation, or very little inhalation) when I golf usually. But I have to shower and brush my teeth as well as use listerine before I see my wife. She will have breathing problems if i don't.
(as you can probably see, I am a huge advocate of not smoking in any enclosed public place...I think it should be done out in the open where very few are around, or the privacy of your own home.)
Besides, CIGAR ETTES are just girly cigars. :D

I really can't stand cigarettes!! I hate them being around me in restraurants, eating, etc. Worse of all I hate the butts being littered everywhere. It's the nastiest litter to look at, and I can't figuire out why smokers think it is okay to do that.
DON'T WITH TEXAS !!

In August of 2001 we took our kids up to NYC for the last fun of the summer. The first place we went to were the Trade Towers. I remember hundreds of people out front smoking. I was so irrated that I had to battle my way through the haze to get inside.
4 weeks later the Towers were gone. I remembered all those smokers, and cried. I hoped they had all been out there smoking and were able to get away.

I did. Smoked when i was in college, quit for four years, went back three years ago, and quit again, and for good on Aug 12, 2002, a few days over 1 year. can honestly say i have no idea why i ever did, quality of life is much higher without them, i agree with the very first post in this topic by DJ, can breathe a heklluva klaot better now. Chest isnt heavy in the AM, not out of breath when walking up stairs, and find much much much higher level of energy druing my workouts. Nope, i can honestly say, this time i quit, this time is for good, forever.

and yes i did it cold trukey as well. I dont buy any of that bullcrap help quit stuff. All the nictoine aids and pacthes and this and that are all for the weak minded. If you wanna quit it is all mental and if you can't overcome the urges and desires to smoke on your own, then you probably are not ready.

after being around parents who've smoked, uncles, grandparents, friends...i've had my fill just on 2nd hand smoke...
i believe my upper respiratory problems (tons of sinus infections) are due to being around it.
i've never smoked, never will...it wasn't til i moved out that i noticed the smell in my parent's house. my parents are very clean people, and mom's always cleaning. however, now that i'm not exposed to it, i do notice it a lot more, to the point where sometimes it does make me sick.
however, if that's your preference, more power to ya...

BDB, I know what you mean. Like I posted earlier, I had no idea how bad the house smelled untill I moved out. And like your mother, my mother was constantly cleaning....

I used to smoke alot. In MArch of 2001, I crumpled up a half a pack of smokes and have never touched one again. I was very lucky, I hever had the urge for one, unless I am drinking, but I have never had any withdrawl at all. and I smoked for about 15 years.
I agree with Mark, that these help patches and stuff are a joke, just another way to make money. I have never seen anyone who have tried these to have actually quit
