Hope I am not jumping the gun with this thread but I am excited about this one. This is the third preseason game and is normally the most important one of the four.

We showed some improvement from game one to game two and hopefully we can do the same in this one.:)

We will peobably play our starters a whole half on Saturday but again hopefully with no injuries.

ADMIN EDIT Shabba, how about we change this to the "pregame discussion" as we like to use the "game thread" title for the actual gameday itself. We understand and applaud your excitement.

I am looking for Patrick Ramsey to have a big game. He was 13 of 24 DESPITE being under constant pressure from the Pats. That is encouraging. This will be his last chance to tune up before the season opener due to the fact he is not likely to play much in the 4th preseason game.

Looking forward to this one too - actually going to this game. Baltimore/Washington rival starting to become a big deal again.

I don't want to see Ramsey in the game past the first quarter. I know he has a lot of work to do and all but the Ravens D just knocked Vick our for 8-10 weeks. It wasn't done on purpose I know, but it still doesn't make me feel any better about facing that D. They are attacking and they are quick.

Understand the concern CarMike but I think Ramsey will be OK for two quarters with our starting unit. ........ IMO, Vick's injury was a product of him mobility where as Patrick rarely moves out of the pocket. SO, when PR gets hit, it's usally by one guy. AND besides, I think Patrick has taken alot more hits (including college) than Vick and is a little more tougher in that aspect. ......... On the flip side of that, I sure hope Vick is not out for long, he is awful fun to watch and what a talent. Fans in Atlanta just have to be sick today.

I will be at the game as well. I am bringing a friend, who is a Ravens fan, so it is going to be an interesting night. Looking for the Skins to make fewer mistakes, and hopefully be injury free.

Patrick, you make a very sound argument.....I agree with you 100% too. Perhaps you just changed my mind. Vick does run around ALOT more than Ramsey will.

Alright, I give in........;)

Man, the Ravens defense is SCARY!!!! I live here in Baltimore and see a lot of what they do. It is going to be a tough game for us. I think that Baltimore is more talented than Carolina or New England. If our offense is successful, I would be surprised. Not trying to be pesimistic or anything, but we have struggled for two games (although we played much better against N.E.) and to have one of the best (if not the best) D come into town is not a comforting feeling. If Ramsey has time to pass, we should be o.k., but with the way our O-Line has played.............I have my doubts. Just my 2 cents.

Concerns - YES, but you've got to believe that our coaching staff is aware how good the Ravens D is. I think that they will even put some (not much) game planning into this game. In addition, a major focus at Redskin Park this week will be picking up the blitz. If we can improve on last weekend's game, we'll be in good shape.

If our offense cant beat the Ravens D then we may as well pack up the season.

Well, I'll put it to you this way:

In the first pre-season game of the year, they completely blanketed Buffalo's high touted offense. Eric Moulds did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.......and Drew Bledsoe was shut down. They made him look BAD.

In the second preseason game........once again, they completely blanketed the Falcons #1 WR Price. Didn't hear his name once (I saw the game). And we KNOW what they did to Michael Vick. If my memory serves me correct, he was like 0-4 with an interception BEFORE HE GOT HURT. OUCH!!!!!

Two of the games best QB's completely shut down. Our offense hasn't done much of squat this pre-season. A few plays here and there, but that's it.

I have confidence in our offense, and in time, will be pretty explosive. But against the Ravens, especially considering how they have played as of late.......I have my doubts. I just hope that I'm WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will just have to wait and see but would love to give the ole middle finger to the Ravens and their stupid owner.

I'm looking for another improvement game over the last game. I don't really need a win(tho' it would be a nice fan boost) but I do need to see improvment.......... and it would be good to see the Defense straighten up. (Tho' that depends on the FO and who we get this week)

The fact that the Ravens defense plays anywhere close to great is amazing to me. Their defensive coordinator is Mike Nolan. He couldn't find his ass with both hands in broad day light when he was with the Skins. Sometimes life is cruel.

Your not wrong - the Ravens are not someone we should take lightly. The thing about this game though, the Ravens will be looking for those bubble players too. The first line and most of the backups a set but they have some people then really need to evaluate before Sunday/Monday cutdown. I think they'll be pulling the starters out before we do.

It should be a really interesting game - HELL maybe even exciting!.

Mike Nolan is not a bad DC. He has the talent in Baltimore that he never had in Washington.

Wonder why people don't play well for the Redskins but they excel before coming here or after leaving here. Just a thought.

This game is gonna be tough all the way round. If they shut down two high powered offenses like the Falcs and Bills, then oh my friggin god.

You know, I've pondered this topic often. I am totally convinced that it is a DISCIPLINE PROBLEM. We had Nolan, they have Nolan. They played better.

We had Marvin Lewis, they had Marvin Lewis........once again, THEY PLAYED BETTER!!!!

Even Marvin Lewis comented that his Redskins team was MORE TALENTED than the RAVENS......but he also said that he was teaching the "basics" half-way through the season with OUR REDSKINS players, while the Ravens had the scheme down pat by week 1.

to patrick and skinsfan44.......no fair!! i want to go to this game sooo bad.

i already posted this on the other thread about this game:

ahhhh.....the pre-season game that i have been waiting for. the only preseason game i want the skins to win is this one! i cant wait to see this one. i just hope those dirty birds dont hurt any of my redskins, or all hell is gonna break lose!! this will be a good test for the redskins offense and if the line can protect ramsey (big IF thus far) he will be able to pick on the raisins' secondary. i dont think that either redman or boller is the answer in b-more this year. redman just doesnt seem to be a playoff qb to me and boller is a one year wonder rookie. the running game is good, but the o line isnt all that besides ogden. i noticed last season that when the ravens couldnt run the ball, they couldnt win because they had no passing attack. they added new receivers but they are still suspect IMO. i cant wait till saturday, preseason or not.

about nolan, he still sucks, lol. and if lewis would have stayed here for more than a year, we would have had a great-dominate defense IMO also. that always seems to be the case with the skins or any washington area team. a great player/coach gets here and sucks or sucks when they are here and then do better when they leave. go figure.

The Ravens have one of the top five defensive units in the league. Anyone who thinks differently hasn't been paying attention. Luckily, the same thing could be argued for the other two teams we've played so far in the preseason, so the Skins have faced a bit of adversity getting this far. I doubt we'll light it up against them, but another improvement and a couple TDs is far from out of the question.

This will probably be a low scoreing game and could be won by the field goal kickers.

who am i kidding

Spurrier said that Patrick will probably throw only 12 to 15 balls in the game Saturday night.

Now they are not sure that Ramsey will play or not. Hope that finger heals, he needs a little work against a good defense to help gauge himself and the team.

Really? Damn, usually the starters play more in the third game.

That D is top of the world.
This should be a real barameter for our O-line.

?Nolan sucks?: he was good with the giants before us & he was good with the ravens after us. Call it 'tough-love' but I think that one's on us. What a difference 5 pro-bowlers make (Bailey, Arrington, B.Smith, Trotter, Armstead)

I just saw where Ramsey said he planned on practicing tomorrow. Said he doesn't really know about injuries because he hasn't experienced them. So he's counting on the doctors and trainers.

I will be happy if the offensive line plays solid and begins to show that gelling process underway. I want Ram protected and i want to see some of these guys open up some running room.

I will be relieved to see a solid performance in the defensive middle. I want to see the run stopped, decent pressure.

I expect to see a crisper game, less penalties, and mental errors. Time to get damn serious!

This is a very important game but if Pat can't play, that will be devastating for him and the offense.

This was on his throwing hand, right....damn.
