Enough bad talk! The Skins showed vast improvement in the 1st half of their game against the Pats. Lets look at some of the GOOD things that happened during the first half of Saturday's loss to the Patriots:

1st Half Points
Vs. Carolina - 0
Vs. Patriots - 7
(WE SCORED!)

1st Half Time of Possession
Vs. Carolina - 11:53
Vs. Patriots - 17:23
(OVER 6 MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL BALL CONTROL!)

1st Half 1st Downs Achieved
Vs. Carolina - 6
Vs. Patriots - 11
(5 MORE FIRST DOWNS!)

1st Half 1st Downs Allowed
Vs. Carolina - 10
Vs. Patriots - 8
(2 LESS 1st DOWNS ALLOWED!)

1st Half 3rd Down Efficiency
Vs. Carolina - 0 for 5 for 0%
Vs. Patriots - 2 for 8 for 25%
(WE ACTUALLY MADE A FIRST DOWN ON A THIRD DOWN ATTEMPT!)

1st Half Rushing Yards
Vs. Carolina - 11
Vs. Patriots - 61
(CLEARLY MUCH BETTER. SIGNS OF A RUNNING GAME?)

1st Half Rushing Yards Allowed
Vs. Carolina - 117
Vs. Patriots - 57
(LESS THAN HALF THE RUSH YARDS ALLOWED FROM LAST WEEK!)

1st Half Rushing Yards Per Carry
Vs. Carolina - 1.6 Yards per Carry
Vs. Patriots - 5.1 Yards per Carry
(OUR RUNNING BACKS RAN MUCH BETTER!)

1st Half Yards Passing
Vs. Carolina - 106
Vs. Patriots - 135
(A LITTLE BETTER!)

1st Half Punting Average
Vs. Carolina - 38.3
Vs. Patriots - 43
(BETTER KICKS!)

1st Half Fumbles Lost
Vs. Carolina - 2
Vs. Patriots - 0
(WE HELD ONTO THE BALL!)

These are ALL great things to note from our showing on Saturday night. Our running game stepped up, our efficiency improved in a lot of areas and our defense pretty much controlled the game, minus an 85 yard TD reception.

So anyway....CHEER UP! At least it wasn't as bad as the first preseason game! :D :D :D :D My glass of Redskins Cool-Aid is half full today!

Stouty. Good stuff. Something to think about. I think that part of our success was the improvement (however slight) of our O-Line. They still have some hurdles to overcome, but they ran blocked and pass blocked better than they did in Carolina. They still, however, need to work on PICKING UP THE FREAKIN' BLITZ!!!!

Some other half-full stuff:

We outscored them in every measurable statistical category. Unfortunately, that would also include TURNOVERS.

They played many of their starters halfway through the third quarter. I taped the game and watched it twice. Our second string offense looked good against their first team defense.......and vise versa.

The Patriots scored 2 of their 3 touchdowns on BIG (fluke, if you ask me) one shot plays. Oh, and their 3rd touchdown..........they had GREAT field position, and had to go ALL OF (ONLY) 40 YARDS!!!!;) :p  :)

I agree, 1906...

The game doesn't seem so bad anymore.

Another positive ........ The Defensive UNIT... After Noble when down, the D seem to come together and played more as a unit and not a individuals.

And we surrender less rushing yards.

If they do good this weekend I will feel much better. Plus I would like to see what that guy we signed (Cannida) can do in there.
