Do You think spurrier only played watson a lot in that game vs. the pats just to display him for the saints for trade? If you think about it he played sage a lot last year in preseason for no reason against the steelers but then a couple days later he gets traded for a draft pick.

I don't think so. Watson is the number two back on the roster as of right now by default. He and Betts haven't competed because of Betts injury, so once Canidate was pulled it was obvious for Watson to get the remaining carries.

As far as Sage goes, you have to remember that the QB position was far from settled last year at this time. He had to play Sage to see what he had to offer.

FWIW, New Orleans signed Kijana Carter today.......don't know if that will play a role in our trade or not......just wanted to throw that out there....

I don't think so. I don't think that Watson would be considered as valuable a trade. We can't forget that we are Redskins fans and the adverage fan isn't gonna know who Watson is. When they ask when he came out of the draft and the answer is undrafted,..... they tend to draw their own conclusion from there. Watson will be our sleeper.

i think Watson is going to get every opportunity to get many carries. I can see a shared system between Canidate and Watson. My bet is at some point, Betts will be dealt. Unless Betts plays this saturday, i cant see how he can be placed above watson.

Some here will say because he was a 2nd round pick. I've always liked Watson better and I feel he's playing good enough to earn a spot on this team.

I liked Betts better than watson last year especially after muffing that Woefull pass in the big D. Man I was so Pissed after that int/td. Anyway, no question about it Betts is the more Valuable and marketable commodity.

Yeah but Davis had his share of goofs against the boys and we still loved him. I can forgive Watson as long as he keeps producing like he did last weekend.

it doesnt look like we can really trade watson. the saints got carter, and the bears might be getting deuce staley. so that leaves out that. the broncos dont need a running back, so we can rule that out. i want the skins to bring in smith and dalton though.

The SKins will just probably trade picks to get DT's. Maybe they can package David Terrel

Terrell would have to be competing in a pop warner league to look like a superstar. :smash:

I still believe Betts is our best back. There is no corroboration for this claim as he never plays, but I think he has alot of upside. Watson is a hard worker, but doesn't have the combo speed/power that I think Betts possesses. Even if he totally misses the preseason, I don't see Betts getting cut. Dealt, maybe. Depending on the deal, I may support it despite liking Betts. Our D line is beyond sorry.

Betts and Watson have to strikingly diferent running styles... I think that alone will prove who stays and who goes.

I agree with the different running styles skinz... Watson just has a little more "Swagger". To be honest, I don't know what Betts is bringing to the table this season. I just know we could probably acquire a better player using Betts as a trade.

Betts might actually be the better back, but we don't know that and we shouldn't make a decision to keep him based on that speculation. Watson is doing well...I know you should never be able to lose your job to injury, but that's if you've established yourself first which Betts has not clearly done. I don't care if he was a second round pick or not...he's not on the field...we need a
DT...trade him. We'd get a player on the field in exchange for one who's not...that's a good deal.

Tailback Ladell Betts resumed practicing after missing the first two exhibition games because of a sprained elbow. . . .

I don't know if this hs been reported or not
