if you blitz, you will neutralize the Redskins offense. If I were the Ravens, I'd blitz every play. I just hope Ramsey comes out of the game OK.

Neither O will be effective.

To defeat that, they need to do the draws

Ramsey may not even play due to a bruised hand.

He said earlier that he thought that he would.

In hindsight, I wish he would have pulled himself out of the game when it happened.

draws and quick slants will stop that.

At this point in the preseason, that could be said of 50% of the teams out there. ......... Looking at the last two game it's obvious that we are having a hard time dealing with it BUT I've got to beleive that the coaches are doing a little game planning for this one. Draws and screens are the best way to stop that. I'd really like to see our QBs start attempting some quick hitters to the #3 WR (Russell or Jacobs).

Thing is he seems to be terrible at the short throws this preseason for some reason. He keeps missing them and badly. :(

Only difference though Patrick, in regards to other teams and teh Redskins is, the past several season blitzes seem to stop our offense and trun the tide fo the game. It is called lack of a battle plan to beat the blitz.

I hope Spurrier has taken blitzing into account in his offense. If he has, then it's up to the QB to recognize the blitz and get us into the right play. The receivers have to be aware of that as well.

With Trung and Mrton we have the personnel to beat that blitz scheme.

let us not forget that SS is not showing his hand this preseason as he did last. Maybe he is not doing the quick outs to see how his line and rbs pick up the blitz as a better measuring stick as to who stays, just an opinion though?

It makes me wonder what looks our defense gives the offense in practice. We don't look like we do a good job of picking up the blitz very well at all.

Firstly, using a draw to defeat the blitz worries me, as you're still running the ball towards where the blitzers are coming from. I'd much rather see some hot routes and screens, maybe even a few trick plays. Obviously, I don't want to see those in the preseason, at least not the trick plays. But we do need to do something about this. I'd try to incorporate a bit of the Run'n'Shoot offense into some the plays, basically lining up a slot reciever and telling him to run where defenders are blitzing from. Then it's up to Ramsey to read that and make the throw.

The Ravens won't blitz nearly as much as you guys think. During the preseason, offenses aren't the only thing that plays it close to the vest. The Ravens will come out with a strictly vanilla blitz package that shouldn't upset the Redskins offensive scheme too much. Personally, I would love to see the Ravens come out and put some heat on our O-line and backs to see how they react to pressure, especially up the middle with our new guys.

This isn't old news...

The Skins did MUCH better last year against non-blitzing teams than they did against blitzing teams.

That MNF game against the Eagles was living proof. They came at us from every angle on every play..and we simply laid down.

There is a saying I recently heard that steams me. It goes: "The best way to stop the Skins is to punch them in the mouth and they will lay down". I hope this isn't the case this year...

Our overall success this year will be if the O-line can gel and pick up the blitzes. If they can...and our FBs, TEs and RBs can pick up that additional defender breaking throught the line, Ramsey has a good shot at finding the open man. If not...then we are in serious trouble.

It seems we went and got Trung so we have a burner out of the backfield and I have yet to see a screen. I know it is still preseason but we have to work on stuff like this sometime don't we?
