Sorry for the new thread, but this is a doozy....
Im talking with another owner about trading Chestor Taylor and Jamal Lewis for Rudi Johnson and Joseph Addai. This would give me a backfield of Portis, Johnson, Addai, D WIlliams, and B Jacobs. Whatdya think?

Why would you give up 2 solid starters for 1 solid starter and a rookie who is apt to split time?

If you have a flex or 3rd RB position I would be weary of this move. Although, Chester Taylor's carries have dropped every week (what'd he have 10 last week after 30 week 1 against us?) and Jamal Lewis is looking more like the '05 version than the '04 version every game. Rudi is a stud, but Addai is very risky.

I actually like the move for you, even though Addai currently splits carries. Rudi is a stud and Taylor could be good. Also, didn't the Ravens lose another lineman? I don't trust Lewis right now.

We have a flex, so I would like to start three backs per game. My logic is that getting Rudi would give me two of the top 5 RB's, and then Addai would hopefully pan out into a decent thrid option. I'm a little soured on Lewis and Taylor right now, but maybe I'm giving up too quickly. Taylor has been very consistent until last week, which I'm sure was just an anomaly, but even so he only has 1 TD on the year. It's not like Minny is scoring TD's in bunches. Lewis I think would be the bigger loss, because Baltimore looks like a playoff team and he should be getting meaningful carries all year...but then again, so should Johnson.

I like that trade. Even though it appears that Lewis and Taylor are in good situations to thrive, they have yet to do so. I have Taylor on 2 teams and I am a bit disappointed in his lack of production, given the O-line he runs behind.
Plus if you only start 2 RBs then you would have CP and Rudi with Addai waiting in the wings. IMO it is only a matter of time before Addai phases Rhodes out of the Colts offense. He is clearly superior talent wise. Plus D. Williams could be the starter at any given moment considering his(Foster) injury history.
Edit: To further my argument Rudi > Lewis and Rudi > Taylor

I just don't know how solid Lewis and Taylor are right now. Rudi seems to be well on his way to a 1500 yard, 12 TD season, if not more. I kinda feel like Addai is getting more involved each week. I'm still undecided though, so the feedback is definately helpful.

what are your receiver options? i like Rudi more than Lewis and i'm low on Taylor, so i'm tempted to say go for it, but you need to have something in that third spot.

Exactly, DeShaun is gonna get hurt at some point. Not to mention, Jacobs is supposed to be getting more carries as the year goes on and should be good for a spot start or two. I just really, really like the idea of starting Rudi and CP every week.

My receivers are decent, but not spectacular. Houshmanzadeh, Mason, Chambers, Cotchery. All are putting up numbers consistently, but they aren't exactly top teir WR's either.

with those options, you'll at least have someone to throw into the mix as a flex option based on matchups. i say go for it.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I wouldn't necessarily have a lock starter for my flex each week, but I would have four viable options to choose from, and I could just play matchups. I'm going to officially offer the trade and hope he takes it. The big thing for him is Rudi and his other starter, Dunn, are both on bye weeks, so he not only gets good value but he doesn't have to assume a loss this week. Might end up being a good trade for both teams.
EDIT: One last thing...he also has Deshaun Foster. Should I replace Addai with Foster in the trade? He seems to really like Addai, so it might grease the wheels a bit, and then I would have a lock on Carolina's backfield.
