View Full Version : Why can't we win in the Meadowlands?

I don't know what it is, but we seem to always get destroyed in New York and hand out a whooping against the Giants when they come here. Why is there such a difference between venues?
------------Meadowlands--------------------------------------FedEx
2004 ----- 20-14 loss, 7 tournovers-------------------31-7 win, first game over 20 points that year
2005 ----- 36-0 loss, total disaster--------------------31-17 win I think, Moss' 3 TDs
2006 ----- 19-3 loss, beat up and down---------------??????
As for the rest of this season, I hope the trend continues.

It's the toxic swamp that the Skins have to travel through to get into the stadium, I'm convinced.

we show up with out tails tucked between our legs and wait for something bad to happen.. we have no veteran leadership that steps forward in those games..

Akh commented on this in his week 5 thoughts. Gibbsy has a horrifying record in that stadium -- he's lost something like the last 10 out of 12.
Those are some of the intangibles that defy logic. I thought last year was an abberation but watching today's game was painful and nostalgic. I got a swift reminder how lousy it felt to get our hats handed to us last year...

the difference being that was a far more efficient giant team we faced last year. this year's giants are still a bunch of bumblers.. problem being we were far far worse in the effort department that they were.
last year the whomped us.. this year we looked like a carpet

No heart.
I'm going to bed. I am way too upset to have these conversations.

Along these lines, perhaps because it is an "NFC East" game, the coach's game plan is play not to lose and don't make a mistake. Well no turnovers, but the mistake was the game plan. In the prior 3 Giants games, their opponents had attacked them with an up tempo offense, using at times no huddle. It worked. The Giants got killed. We chose the old approach and we saw the result. The other factor was lack of intensity. The Giants clearly played with it and the Skins didn't. Why?

I heard the announcer's say that the other teams that had success against them this year were doing more of a hurry up offense and were surprised that we were so lax and not following suit. On offense, they just weren't getting it done and our defense was wasn't wrapping up. NY just seemed to get out of those 3rd and long situations everytime. It seemed really loud there so maybe we just couldn't get our offensive plan together hence those back to back penalties.
I'm voting that it's just a loud stadium. LOL

I know right? I was dumbfounded that we didn't "attack" them more. Sometimes I really wonder what the hell we do during the week to prepare. I know we watch game film but this is driving me nuts.
I think it starts w/ Gibbs. He's got some kind of mental block with the medowlands. I'm sure the players sense it as well.

Not sure if it's the curse of the Meadowlands or if it's the curse of playing on national TV.
I ditched directv so can only see the nationally televised games this year, being up in Maine. The way the games I've been able to see so far have gone, I'd rather not see any of them and have the team win.
